‘The Fighter’ Producer Keith Dorrington Partners With IW Group on Adoption Drama ‘Hou Yi’ (EXCLUSIVE)

As a seasoned film enthusiast with a penchant for stories that tug at one’s heartstrings, I find myself captivated by the forthcoming project “Hou Yi.” The collaboration between writer-producer Keith Dorrington and multicultural ad agency IW Group promises an adoption drama set in China, inspired by Dorrington’s personal experiences during the 1990s.

Keith Dorrington, a writer and producer, has partnered with the multicultural advertising agency IW Group to create the adoption drama “Hou Yi,” which is set in China.

Drawing inspiration from Dorrington’s experiences working in China during the 1990s, this narrative follows the unforeseen journey of an American entrepreneur who adopts a three-year-old orphan girl named Hou Yi.

Under the banner of “Hou Yi”, IW Group is embarking on their cinematic journey into film production. Notably, David Dorrington has made a name for himself in the industry with his contributions to movies like “The Fighter”, where he shared the screen with stars Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale under the guidance of director David O. Russell. In this project, Dorrington held the position of executive producer and was credited for the story.

“For more than two decades, it’s been a heartfelt ambition of mine to share the tale of Hou Yi on the big screen. It gives me immense joy to embark on this significant journey towards making that vision a reality,” expressed Dorrington, who will be serving as the executive producer for the film based on his own script. “This narrative holds profound significance for me as it draws inspiration from the experiences surrounding my daughter’s adoption. Although I’m not an expert in Chinese culture, I’ve spent time there during my previous profession. I’m elated about collaborating with IW Group to bring this story to life in a way that truly resonates and remains authentic.”

IW Group manages a variety of advertising and marketing ventures for prominent companies such as Disney, Warner Bros., the House of Suntory, Lexus, McDonald’s, and others.

In Bill Imada’s words as co-founder and chairman of IW Group, a firm bridging Hollywood, Madison Avenue, and Asia, he expressed his belief that there are numerous untapped opportunities in the present media environment. As IW Group prepares for its 35th anniversary next year, he is eager to start an exciting new chapter, and what better way to do so than by joining forces with a writer of Keith’s talent to adapt his compelling and motivational tale for the big screen.

“Telly Wong, IW Group’s Chief Content Officer and SVP, who is also a producer for ‘Hou Yi’, stated two main objectives: firstly, to create an exceptional film that appeals universally, and secondly, to investigate the additional impact our agency can make in the evolving landscape of media, entertainment, and culture. He further mentioned that IW Group has been known for narrating unique cultural tales in daring and creative manners, and this upcoming project elevates this approach to an even more thrilling dimension.”
