As an ardent fan, I’ve been eagerly awaiting updates about the development of The Elder Scrolls 6 for quite some time now. It seems that my wait might be coming to an end, as recent reports suggest that progress has been steady and promising. According to industry insider Jez Cordon on the Xbox Two podcast, The Elder Scrolls 6 has reached a significant internal milestone, described as “quite playable”. This news is truly music to my ears!
As a gamer, I recently tuned in to a chat between James Corden and YouTuber Rand al Thor 19, where they were delving into Microsoft’s plans for Bethesda and the games they’ve been developing. During their conversation, when asked if The Elder Scrolls 6 had officially entered full production yet, Corden shared an exciting tidbit – he mentioned that it seems quite playable!
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve got my fingers crossed and hoping for the best with The Elder Scrolls 6. I made a calculated guess when we were predicting games for the showcase, but let’s be real, it’s tough to get reliable info about Bethesda projects.
Approximately a fortnight has elapsed since James Corden last discussed The Elder Scrolls 6, during which he mentioned a new trailer being distributed by Microsoft.
In April, Jeremy Bryant, a former animator at Bethesda, expressed his belief that the studio might not significantly increase its team to work on The Elder Scrolls 6. Bryant, who has contributed to games like Skyrim, Fallout 4, and Starfield, discussed Todd Howard’s vision for the game and how Bethesda typically doesn’t grow its teams as projects progress.
According to Bryant, Todd [Howard] has a clear vision for the game he intends to create, and he understands that a certain number of people are necessary to make it happen. By planning out what needs to be done, it becomes apparent that additional developers were required. It seems like the only feasible way to grow so quickly is by acquiring a large number of developers, as hiring individually would be challenging and time-consuming to reach the scale needed.
When inquired about whether Bethesda might increase their team for the development of The Elder Scrolls 6, Bryant casually responded, “I don’t anticipate that,” and then drew a parallel between Bethesda and Rockstar Games.
He remarked, “Rockstar truly excels in their craft.” The refinement of their games leaves one baffled, prompting the question, “How do they manage it?” Speaking of GTA 6, I understand the delay, but when I examined the credits for Red Dead, I was astounded to find approximately 500 animators working on it. There were around 80-85 responsible for gameplay animation, another 80 for cinematic animation, and yet another 100 focused specifically on facial animations. To think that such a large team, estimated at around 1,600 during the development of Red Dead 2, was involved… it’s mind-blowing!
The Elder Scrolls 6 was originally announced all the way back in 2018.
