As an ardent gamer with roots deeply entrenched in the Asia-Pacific region, I must say that witnessing the ferocity of the Perfect World Shanghai Major’s RMR qualifiers has been nothing short of exhilarating! The sheer number of participants, over 8,000 teams, is a testament to the growing passion for Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) in our region.
The Perfect World Shanghai Major’s RMR event qualifiers have been a bloodbath, to say the least. We’ve already reported on the European RMR teams and the Americas RMR teams, but now, it’s time to take a look at the eight Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) teams that made it through the Asia-Pacific qualifiers.
In the Asia-Pacific area, there was a huge number of participants taking part in the qualifying rounds, as confirmed by the event organizer Perfect World, who reported that approximately 8,000 teams showed up.
The Shanghai Major, happening from November 30 to December 15, 2024, is the second CS2 Major Championship and offers an impressive prize pool of $1.25 million. Preliminary Regional Major Ranking (RMR) events will be held earlier in November 2024, with two teams from the Asia-Pacific RMR securing a place at this grand tournament.
The following eight teams from the Shanghai Major Asia-Pacific RMR region are listed below, each with information about their qualification process. Teams received direct invitations based on their position on Valve’s Regional Rankings board.
- The MongolZ (Direct Invite)
- FlyQuest (Direct Invite)
- Lynn Vision Gaming (Direct Invite)
- Rare Atom (Chinese Qualifier)
- TALON (Oceanic Qualifier)
- GR Gaming (East Asian Qualifier)
- Alter Ego (Southeast Asia QUalifier)
- DRILLAS (Middle Eastern Qualifier)
I eagerly followed the Middle Eastern qualifier, with a South African team, Bravado Gaming, among the competitors. Regrettably, Bravado didn’t make it past DRILLAS, who eventually emerged as champions.
Greetings! Newsflash: The Shanghai Major 2024 Qualifiers for Europe, Asia, and the Americas through Regional Major Rankings (RMRs) have wrapped up. A total of 56 teams who participated in these RMRs are now officially confirmed. From November 11 to November 24, they will travel to China to battle it out and secure their spot at the Shanghai Major.
