‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ Gets Early Season 6 Renewal, Keeping It Going Through At Least 2026

As a seasoned moviegoer who’s seen more daytime talk shows than I care to admit, I must say that the renewal of “The Drew Barrymore Show” through 2026 is like a breath of fresh air. This isn’t just about extending a contract; it’s about giving us more of Drew’s infectious energy, her knack for connecting with people, and her unmatched ability to bring positivity into our living rooms.

“The Drew Barrymore Show” has been confirmed to run until at least the 2025-2026 television season. This syndicated daytime talk show, starting its fifth season on September 9, has already received an early renewal from CBS’s owned-and-operated stations.”

The news was shared on Thursday by Wendy McMahon, who serves as both the president and CEO of CBS News and Stations, as well as CBS Media Ventures. It was previously revealed in January that Season 5 would be picked up for this fall, according to CBS Media Ventures.

“McMahon praised Drew as an exceptional artist, stating she’s a cherished member of the CBS and Paramount family. The early renewal and enhancements reflect our dedication to ‘The Drew Barrymore Show.’ These moves demonstrate our appreciation for Drew’s charm, curiosity, and spontaneity that viewers look forward to each day.”

The news coincides with “The Drew Barrymore Show” securing improved time slots in seven major markets across the country, according to the distributor. This includes new positions on CBS stations in six different regions, along with a new network and more advantageous timeslot in Houston.

“Over recent seasons, it’s become clear that ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ stands out in daytime television. It consistently delivers Drew’s unique blend of positivity and advertiser-friendly content. Notably, many enhancements have teamed ‘Drew’ with a lead-in from ‘CBS Mornings’, a combination that has shown great strength. During this season, in areas where ‘Drew’ airs at 9 am, its ratings among total viewers are 21% higher when ‘CBS Mornings’ is the preceding program.”

As a movie enthusiast, I’ve recently had the pleasure of reviewing an intriguing transformation in the world of daytime television. This year, “The Drew Barrymore Show” has undergone a revamp, shifting from its traditional structure. Now, instead of one full hour-long episode, it’s been divided into two captivating half-hour segments. These segments can either be aired together, back-to-back for a seamless viewing experience, or they can be separated and broadcast individually to suit the programming needs of each station. This flexible format change has added a fresh, dynamic twist to this popular talk show.

Often, the decision is given to CBS stations to broadcast “The Drew Barrymore Show” in its full hour format. Previously, in 2022, they could only air a half-hour version. This change allowed certain CBS stations, such as WCBS in New York, to introduce a new half-hour local news program from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM. This newscast serves as an introduction to the initial half-hour of “The Drew Barrymore Show.”

The production of “The Drew Barrymore Show” continues in half-hour segments, allowing stations to play episodes consecutively or separately. However, starting now, the show will be broadcast as an hour-long segment at 9 a.m., following “CBS Mornings,” on WCBS New York, KTVT Dallas, and WBZ Boston. Similarly, it will air for an hour at 3 p.m. on KYW Philadelphia, KPIX San Francisco, and WFOR Miami. Lastly, in Houston, the show has been shifted to NBC affiliate KPRC at 10 a.m.

Based on reports from CBS Media Ventures, “The Drew Barrymore Show” is currently attracting an average of 1.1 million viewers. This number represents an 8% increase in viewership compared to the preceding quarter of 2024. The show is produced and filmed in New York City, and it’s distributed by CBS Media Ventures. Drew Barrymore and Jason Kurtz serve as executive producers for this popular daytime talk show.
