When will The Division 3 be released?
Ubisoft hasn’t said when The Division will be released, not even the year. We expect to learn more eventually, but it’s unclear when that will be.
Ubisoft revealed plans for The Division 3 in 2023, but it seemed more like a recruitment tool than a firm announcement. The company stated they were ‘building a team,’ which is a common tactic used by game developers to attract talent by showcasing future projects with limited details.

Who is making The Division 3?
So, I’m really excited about The Division 3! It’s being developed by Massive Entertainment, the folks who made the first two Division games, which I loved. They’ve also been working on Star Wars: Outlaws, so they definitely know what they’re doing when it comes to open-world action!
Ubisoft typically develops its major titles using multiple studios, and The Division 3 will likely follow that same approach. The announcement that Massive Entertainment will “lead” the game’s development suggests this collaborative effort.
Julian Gerighty, a director on both The Division and The Division 2, has been promoted to oversee the entire series at Ubisoft. He’s now in charge of guiding the franchise—including the upcoming The Division 3 and the mobile game, The Division Resurgence—towards a consistent vision. He previously led development on The Division: Heartland, but that project has been canceled.
A “monster”
During a recent presentation, Julian Gerighty hinted that The Division 3 is going to be a major title. He expressed confidence it will be as influential as the original The Division. While exciting, these statements were brief and likely intended to generate excitement rather than provide concrete details.
The Division 3 trailer
Ubisoft has not released a trailer for The Division 3 as of yet.
The Division 3 platforms
While Ubisoft hasn’t officially said which platforms The Division 3 will be on, it’s likely to be released on both computers and gaming consoles.
The Division 3 preorders
The Division 3 is not yet available for preorder.

The Division 3 story, setting, and characters
Currently, Ubisoft hasn’t revealed any information about the story, location, or characters in The Division 3. The original game was set in a near-future New York City devastated by a pandemic, where players collaborated to restore order and uncover the truth behind the outbreak. The sequel moved the action to Washington, D.C., but the setting for the third installment remains a mystery.
The Division movie
Ubisoft first announced plans for a Division movie quite a while ago, but there haven’t been any updates on its progress since. This kind of delay is typical in the movie industry. A decade ago, Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain were considered for leading roles. Initially, David Leitch, known for directing John Wick, was a potential director, but more recent reports suggest Rawson Marshall Thurber, who directed Skyscraper, might take the helm.
