Artist Alexis Franklin celebrated the film’s release on May 1st by sharing artwork she created for it, including a meme-style image of the character Miranda working at a fast-food restaurant. The image’s caption playfully asked, “Would you like some lies with that?” Franklin also posted a video showing the process of making the meme.

The artist explained in the caption that director David Frankel asked them to create this painting, which then appeared in the movie The Devil Wears Prada 2.

She added, with no intention of disrespecting Meryl Streep, that the project felt like something she’d enjoy doing as a hobby, and she was happy to be asked.

People were thrilled with the artwork, and many specifically praised the decision to use a human artist instead of AI. One commenter wrote, “I love that they commissioned a real artist! Amazing job!” Another popular comment, which received over 7,000 likes, simply said, “So refreshing it’s not AI.”

He acknowledges that, given the recent discussions about AI and art, people might assume he was trying to imitate AI, and he finds the whole conversation interesting.

The artist pointed out that because AI is everywhere now, people are starting to ask questions that are actually quite simple to answer.
