Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Daredevil: Born Again season 2, episode 5
As a huge Marvel fan, I’ve really been loving how grounded and personal the street-level stories in the MCU have become. And honestly, Daredevil: Born Again is a big reason why – Season 2 continues to be one of the best things Disney+ has offered from the Marvel universe. We already know some favorites from the old Netflix shows are coming back for Season 3, which is fantastic, but there’s one character in particular I’m crossing my fingers will appear, especially after some recent hints! I’m really hoping it happens.
Recent announcements have confirmed that Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist – the team known as The Defenders – will reunite in the third season of Born Again. Marvel Studios bringing back these popular heroes from the Netflix series is really exciting news for fans.
Despite the many new faces, one character’s absence is really starting to be felt. After hints throughout season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, I believe it won’t be long before we see Claire Temple, also known as the Night Nurse, return. She was an important link between Marvel’s old Netflix series and the current shows.
After A Few Teases, I’m Really Hoping We See The Return of Claire Temple’s Night Nurse in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2
The new season of Daredevil: Born Again has hinted at the return of Claire Temple. In the first episode, Karen Page mentions asking for a favor at Metro-General Hospital to get Matt Murdock medical attention. Fans will remember that Claire Temple worked as a nurse at Metro-General during the previous Marvel Netflix series, and often treated injured heroes in her spare time.
Episode 5 of Daredevil: Born Again season 2 included another hint about Night Nurse. When trying to help the wounded Bullseye evade Mayor Fisk and the AVTF, Daredevil offers to connect him with a nurse he knows. This is likely a nod to Claire Temple, referencing her previous role.
Although she isn’t in this latest episode, it seems likely she’ll show up soon. If not before the end of Daredevil: Born Again season 2, we can probably expect to see her in the next season.
Will Claire Return in Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 With The Defenders?
Production on Daredevil: Born Again season 3 is underway, and photos and social media updates have revealed that the original Defenders team will be reuniting. Both Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Finn Jones (Iron Fist) will reprise their roles in season 3, and Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) will appear in the later episodes of the current season 2 before also returning for season 3.
That’s great news, but I’m also really hoping Claire Temple shows up. She played a similar role to Phil Coulson in the Netflix Marvel series, showing up in multiple shows and tying everything together.
It likely wouldn’t be difficult to include a brief appearance by the Night Nurse, either in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again or later with the other Defenders in a potential third season. Rosario Dawson continues to work with Disney as Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars, making a return feasible. It would be disappointing if the hints about Claire Temple ended up being just Easter eggs with no real follow-through.
Marvel Studios will release new episodes of Daredevil: Born Again season 2 every Tuesday night on Disney+.
