‘The Day of the Jackal’ Teaser: Eddie Redmayne Is an Elusive Assassin in Peacock and Sky Series

As a film enthusiast with a deep appreciation for intricately crafted thrillers and masterful performances, I am beyond excited for “The Day of the Jackal,” the upcoming Peacock and Sky series based on Frederick Forsyth’s iconic novel. The first teaser, revealed during the Paris Olympics opening ceremony, has left me utterly captivated and craving more.

I was thrilled to learn that Eddie Redmayne will take on the role of a mysterious, solitary assassin in the new Peacock and Sky series “The Day of the Jackal.” During the Paris Olympics opening ceremony on Friday evening, we were given our first glimpse into this intriguing production.

The show focuses on Jackal, played by Redmayne, a skilled and adaptable assassin who earns his living by completing contracts for top dollar. According to the summary, after his most recent job, he encounters a relentless British intelligence officer, portrayed by Lashana Lynch, who sets out to hunt down Jackal in an exhilarating game of cat-and-mouse throughout Europe, resulting in chaos.

In the gripping preview, Redmayne’s character, Jackal, masterfully dons various disguises. From high-rise vantage points, he stealthily eliminates his objectives. A puzzled woman’s voice queries, “But just who is this man?” To which Redmayne confidently replies, “You already know the answer to that.”

Redmayne plays a role as an executive producer on “The Day of the Jackal,” collaborating with writer Ronan Bennett and director Brian Kirk in this capacity. Joining them are Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant from Carnival Films, Sam Hoyle from Sky Studios, Sue Naegle, Frederick Forsyth as a consulting producer, and Chris Hall as another producer.

Completing the ensemble are Úrsula Corberó, Charles Dance, Richard Dormer, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lia Williams, Khalid Abdalla, Eleanor Matsuura, Jonjo O’Neill, Nick Blood, Sule Rimi, and Florisa Kamara.

“The Day of the Jackal” premieres on Peacock in the U.S. and Sky in the U.K. on Nov. 7.
