The Boys Season 4 Finale Post-Credits Scene Proves Conspiracy Theory Correct

As a dedicated fan of The Boys, I was left reeling after watching the shocking finale of Season 4. The controversy surrounding the potential delay due to real-life political events only added to the anticipation and excitement. But when the episode finally dropped, I was blown away by the unexpected revelation.

In the final episode of Season 4 of The Boys, there were rumors and debates about potential delays due to an assassination attempt on Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. However, these speculations didn’t come true, and Amazon Prime Video renamed the episode from “Assassination Run” to just “Season Four Finale.” An unexpected twist followed the end credits with a return of a beloved character, although this might not have been entirely shocking for some viewers.

Caution: The following discussion contains spoilers about the last episode of The Boys Season 4, named “The Final Episode.”

In the opening, following a quick succession of credits, the action transitions to an underground hideout. Here, newly inaugurated President Steven Calhoun (David Andrews), who had taken over from President-elect Bobby Singer (Jim Beaver) due to false accusations against him for Vice President-elect Victoria Neuman’s (Claudia Doumit) murder, summons Homelander (Antony Starr) into a small chamber. Within this room lies a solitary tube that resembles a cryogenic storage unit.

“For how long have you been aware of this?” inquires Homelander. To which Calhoun responds, “Only since this morning when I received the confidential briefing.” Additionally, Calhoun mentions that Homelander was the very first person he contacted after learning about it.

“Hand to god,” he adds.

Homelander moves toward the room’s heart as he peers into the tube, revealing various feelings on his face. “Are you seriously joking with me?” he exclaims in disbelief. “All along?”

The camera pans to reveal the body of Solider Boy (Jensen Ackles), Homelander’s biological father.

In Season 4 of The Boys, Soldier Boy made brief appearances: He was on the cover of an issue of Vought Men’s Magazine, and could be found as a cardboard cutout in a deserted video store. It’s worth mentioning that during TruthCon a few episodes earlier, there was a booth suggesting that the CIA is responsible for Soldier Boy.

In the Season 3 finale, Homelander and The Boys joined forces to bring down Soldier Boy. Queen Maeve appeared to give her life to save Vought Tower from Soldier Boy’s imminent explosion. However, it was later disclosed that she had only feigned her death. Grace Mallory then put Soldier Boy into a deep sleep, and the situation seemed resolved…until this surprising twist emerged.

Ackles once again appeared in “Gen V,” The Boys’ spin-off series. But instead of having a physical presence, he could only be visualized in the thoughts of Cate Dunlap (Maddie Phillips) when her team entered her comatose mind to awaken her.
