Season 5 of The Boys will conclude the popular superhero satire on Prime Video, and the actors reveal that Homelander’s main challenge in the final season won’t be Billy Butcher, as many might expect.
The Boys, led by Butcher, are trying to rein in Vought International and its reckless superheroes, but their biggest focus is Homelander, who is obsessed with achieving ultimate power.
The season begins with the heroes facing major setbacks as they prepare for one last stand against the formidable villain. Following the events of Season 4, several members of the group are imprisoned by Vought, and Homelander has imposed martial law nationwide, using other super-powered individuals as enforcers.
I was so surprised to hear this! Apparently, the biggest threat to Homelander in the final season isn’t going to be Butcher, but someone who’s actually on his side. It’s a total game-changer and I can’t wait to see how that plays out!
Sister Sage has a “lack of fear” for Homelander in The Boys Season 5

In Season 5 of The Boys, Sister Sage is poised to become Homelander’s most significant challenge, largely due to her rapidly expanding mental abilities.
In a recent interview with ScreenRant, actress Susan Heyward discussed her character, Sister Sage, and her approach to dealing with Homelander. She explained that Sister Sage isn’t afraid of him, even though she naturally wants to survive. Heyward said that at the start of Season 4, her character has essentially accepted that her life isn’t a priority.
She’s stopped worrying about the risks, so she has nothing left to lose. She’s finally taking control and playing the game of power. If things go badly, the absolute worst that could happen is he’ll eliminate her, she explained.
She seems calm because she has a clear plan, knows what she wants to achieve, and recognizes how far she’s already come – further than most people expected. Now, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens next.
Colbie Minfie, the actress who plays Ashley Barrett, also shared her thoughts on the character Sister Sage, explaining that having a deep understanding of the character’s history feels reassuring, like everything is as it should be.
Viewers of The Boys were introduced to Sage in Season 4 as a genius who quickly rises to power, eventually becoming the new CEO of Vought International. Her initial plan also involved altering the country’s government, which enabled Homelander to transform it into a heavily controlled state overseen by superheroes.
We don’t yet know Sister Sage’s plans for Phase 2, but given that Phase 1 altered the US presidency, the next phase will likely have an even bigger impact worldwide.
Initially, Sage had plans involving Project Odessa at Godolkin University, as seen in the ‘Gen V’ series, and was secretly controlling Cipher. However, the focus has shifted to Marie Moreau, who has developed into a powerful force potentially capable of defeating Homelander – she’s now as strong as he is.
Season 5 of The Boys will debut on Prime Video on April 8, 2026. While you wait, you can catch up on details about the shocking finale of the last season, learn about the upcoming spinoff series Vought Rising, and find out what’s in store for Season 3 of Gen V.
