A truly exceptional TV series is now available on a popular streaming service. This network has a history of producing outstanding television, and one project in particular – the limited series Band of Brothers – is a standout achievement.
According to FlixPatrol, the 2001 miniseries Band of Brothers is currently ranked 18th among the most popular shows on iTunes’ VOD platform. Although it didn’t break into the top ten, debuting this high and remaining on the list after only five days proves how well-loved and enduring Band of Brothers remains.
The highly praised series was developed by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, drawing inspiration from Stephen E. Ambrose’s 1992 book of the same title. It tells the story of “Easy” Company, a unit within the 101st Airborne Division, chronicling their journey from initial paratrooper training through to the end of World War II and the occupation of Germany.
The cast of Band of Brothers included Kirk Acevedo as Staff Sergeant Joe Toye, Scott Grimes as Technical Sergeant Donald Malarkey, Ron Livingston as Captain Lewis Nixon, David Schwimmer as Captain Herbert Sobel, Donnie Wahlberg as Second Lieutenant Carwood Lipton, Colin Hanks as First Lieutenant Henry S. Jones, and Marc Warren as Private Albert Blithe. The series also showcased many other recognizable actors in supporting roles, including stars like Simon Pegg, Jimmy Fallon, and Dominic Cooper.
When Band of Brothers premiered in 2001, it quickly gained critical acclaim. The ten-part series received 20 Primetime Emmy nominations and won seven, along with many other prestigious awards. Currently, Rotten Tomatoes gives it a remarkably high “Certified Fresh” rating of 94%, based on reviews. Viewers also love it, giving it a 97% rating on the site’s “Popcornmeter” after over 1,000 reviews.
What Does Band of Brothers Co-Creator Stephen Spielberg Have Coming Next?
People who enjoy director Steven Spielberg’s films are eagerly awaiting his latest movie. It stars Emily Blunt as a Kansas City weather reporter who unexpectedly finds herself at the center of what seems to be humanity’s first encounter with alien life – an event that’s being shown around the world.
Featuring Kristin Scott Thomas alongside Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Colman Domingo, Eve Hewson, Elizabeth Marvel, Michael Gaston, Patricia Conolly, Noah Robbins, and Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Disclosure Day is directed by Steven Spielberg. The script was written by David Koepp, based on an idea originally conceived by Spielberg.
You can currently watch Band of Brothers by renting or buying it on iTunes, or by streaming it with a subscription to HBO Max.
