The Best Version Of Zelda: Wind Waker Could Still Come To Switch 2

Though it’s expected that The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker will be among the GameCube games available on Nintendo Switch Online once the Switch 2 arrives, this doesn’t necessarily imply that the Wii U version won’t also find its way onto the Nintendo Switch platform in the future.

Kinda Funny Games questioned Nintendo Senior Vice President Nate Bihldorff about whether having The Wind Waker on Nintendo Switch Online meant that the upcoming Switch 2 wouldn’t receive an updated port of the Wii U version at a later date. Bihldorff swiftly responded, “No,” indicating that all possibilities are being considered. Tim Gettys, the host of Kinda Funny, further clarified that while nothing is definitively decided yet, there have been numerous instances where games available on Nintendo Switch Online have also appeared in other forms.

Although the collection is limited, it includes games like Blaster Master and Wild Guns. Some Blaster Master games for NES and Game Boy can be found on the NSO platform. The Blaster Master series has been revived with Blaster Master Zero, now playable on Nintendo Switch. For those who enjoy Wild Guns, the SNES version is accessible on NSO, while an enhanced remake titled Wild Guns Reloaded is also available on Nintendo Switch.

The Wii U edition offers numerous innovative features and enhancements that ensure a more seamless playtime. Yet, future updates for the GameCube version, coming to Switch 2, promise further improvements. These upgrades may include higher resolution graphics, quicker load times, and the addition of online multiplayer compatibility.

It was once whispered that games such as Wind Waker and Twilight Princess could be transferred to the initial Nintendo Switch a few years back, but those plans didn’t materialize. Yet, there are hints suggesting that these ports may yet become reality on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
