How to get Frostcrag Spire in Oblivion Remastered

Reaching this house isn’t too difficult; head north from the Imperial City to Bruma, then proceed eastward. The Frostcrag Spire is situated atop the Jerall Mountains, not far from the Gnoll Mountain fast travel point. Upon arrival, you’ll find a closed door awaiting you.

Here are two options for you:

1. You have two choices – either employ your lock-picking abilities (since the lock isn’t too challenging), or venture a short distance south from the tower to find the key. There’s a small camp in that area where you can discover the hidden key inside a chest.

2. Alternatively, instead of using your lock-picking skills on this moderately difficult lock, you could travel a bit south from the tower and uncover a secret key at a nearby camp, located within a concealed chest.

Once you step inside the building, locate the large hand near the entrance where a book rests. Being the proprietor of Frostcrag Spire now, push the door behind that hand open, and feel free to traverse your freshly acquired residence. Yet, this is merely the start of your adventures.

What Frostcrag Spire in Oblivion Remastered has to offer

If you’re a mage, the Frostcrag Spire is an essential place for you. However, before it can be fully utilized, you need to upgrade it first. To achieve this, simply follow the quest in your Journal and purchase all the enhancements that Aurelinwae provides. Remember to also buy Magetallow Candles Boxes because they’re crucial for powering altars. Upgrades may not cost much but they provide numerous benefits.

Vault

This location offers a space for you to hide your belongings. You’ll notice numerous storage options around. Additionally, there’s a concealed spot tucked behind some rocks. Inside, you’ll discover two crypts. Upon engaging with them, you’ll receive a drink that carries unusual effects (we won’t reveal the details) and bonuses.

Living area

There are a few things worth mentioning in this place:

  1. Bedroom – of course, you can sleep here. More than the bed, however, attention should be paid to the alchemy table. If you are near it, it will temporally boost your Alchemy skill by 15. Moreover, you should look at the top of the bookcase next to the Main Level portal. There is an interesting necklace in a jewelry box.
  2. Garden – yes, living area is equipped with a garden. There are many plants in it. The best part is that they regrow every 3 days or so. However you must be away from the Frostcrag Spire for it to happen. So sleeping in a bed in the Bedroom will not spawn them.
  3. Teleports – while it may not seem like a great boost, as there is fast travel, you can instantly teleport to any mage guild you want. It can be useful if you craft a spell or an item and want to buy something from one of the guild vendors.

Altars

The main prize for getting the Frostcrag Spire is altars. There are 3:

  1. Atronach Altar – it is the unique altar, you will not find it anywhere else. If you offer 3 Salts of the same kind (Void, Frost or Fire), you will summon an Atronach. It’s a permanent follower, which can help you during your journey (of course, until destroyed)
  2. Altar of Enchanting – this altar can be also found at Arcane University. However, access to this location is restricted behind quests for heads of local mage guilds. It is much easier and faster to unlock it in the Frostcrag Spire. As the name suggest, you can craft magical items thanks to it.
  3. Altar of Spellmaking – as in the case of Enchanting one, you can find it at Arcane University, but you have the Frostcrag Spire, which is more convenient. This “workbench” allows you to create your own spells.
