The upcoming sequel to The Batman has cast an actor well-known from a popular fantasy TV series. The film is adding a performer who will play a significant relative of a major character in Gotham City’s political landscape.
The Batman 2 casts Charles Dance, role reported
According to Deadline, Charles Dance is in negotiations to appear in the next Batman movie, starring Robert Pattinson.
An actor from Game of Thrones is in talks to play the father of Harvey Dent, the District Attorney of Gotham. Sebastian Stan will play Harvey Dent, and Scarlett Johansson is cast as his wife.
As a huge fan of ‘The Batman,’ I’m really excited about the sequel! I’ve heard rumors about Bill Skarsgård potentially joining the cast, but DC Studios isn’t confirming anything just yet. Thankfully, Matt Reeves is back directing, and he even co-wrote the script this time with Mattson Tomlin. Best of all, Robert Pattinson is definitely returning as Batman, which is fantastic news! I can’t wait to see what they come up with.
DC Studios is set to start filming the sequel late next month, with a planned theatrical release date of October 1, 2027. James Gunn and Peter Safran, the co-CEOs of DC, are executive producers on the film. Warner Bros. originally revealed plans for the sequel in 2022 at CinemaCon, but the project experienced several delays before moving forward.
Charles Dance is widely recognized for his role as Tywin Lannister in HBO’s Game of Thrones. He recently appeared as Dr. Frankenstein’s father in the Netflix film Frankenstein, and his other notable work includes appearances in Alien 3, The Imitation Game, and the Peacock series Day of the Jackal.
The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson, was Warner Bros.’ first big hit in theaters after they started releasing movies simultaneously in cinemas and on their streaming service, HBO Max. Released in 2022, the film earned $772 million worldwide, including $369.3 million in the United States.
The film starred Colin Farrell as the Penguin, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and Barry Keoghan in a role as an Arkham Asylum inmate. Farrell’s performance as the Penguin was so popular that he’s getting his own series on Max and will also be back for the next movie.
