The Avengers Just Made History by Adding This Classic Hero to Its Roster (& His Unique Powers Might Keep Him There Forever)

In a groundbreaking move, thirty-six years following his initial appearance in comic books, the mighty yet underestimated hero, Craig Hollis/Mister Immortal, has been enlisted by The Avengers. This recent development occurred within the pages of Marvel Comics’ latest issue where he joined Steve Rogers’ Avengers Emergency Response Squad.

In issue #12 of the “Astonishing Avengers Infinity Comic” by Steve Orlando and Francesco Archidiacono, Night Thrasher seeks to solve the enigma surrounding a strange structure that has materialized on Staten Island. He contacts two powerful figures, Mister Immortal and the immortal Hercules (also known as Marvel’s God of Heroes), whose exceptional abilities should shield them from any terrors they might encounter during their investigation.

Back in July 1989, I made my debut in The West Coast Avengers #46, penned by the legendary John Byrne. Born with an extraordinary healing factor, I’m Craig Hollis, a mutant blessed – or cursed, depending on how you look at it – with immortality. Unlike other mutants, who represent the advanced Homo sapiens superior subspecies, I belong to the rare and exceptional Homo sapiens supreme category. This means I’ve evolved beyond the normal concept of death itself. It’s a strange existence, but hey, it comes with the territory when you’re Mister Immortal!

As I step into my place among the Avengers, leading a team previously unrecognized by Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, I can’t help but feel the weight of potential history. With my immortality, my time with this new squad could set unprecedented milestones. The tales of Marvel speak of Mister Immortal enduring until the universe’s demise. Even Franklin Richards, the offspring of Reed Richards and Susan Storm, is projected to survive into the next cosmic phase, potentially becoming our Galactus. In this grand tapestry of the Marvel multiverse, I stand as an alternate choice for survival, a beacon of perseverance.

Captain America’s Avengers Emergency Response Squad

After the occurrences in the “Blood Hunt”, Steve Orlando’s “Avengers Assemble” series, which started last September, now has our heroes on Earth, prepared to handle unforeseen and peculiar threats. The team includes Captain America, Night Thrasher, Hercules, as well as additional members such as Hawkeye, Wasp, She-Hulk, Wonder Man, Lightning, Shang-Chi, Photon, and Lightspeed.

As an enthusiastic admirer, I’m thrilled to be part of the Avengers Emergency Response Team, which brings on board experts tailored for specific operations. Stepping into the shoes of a beloved character, much like she did in Astonishing Avengers Infinity Comic #1, is Craig Hollis.

The astonishing 12th issue of the Avengers Infinity Comic series, introducing the first appearance of Mister Immortal, is currently on sale by Marvel Comics.
