‘The Apprentice’ First Footage: Sebastian Stan’s Donald Trump Voice Revealed

As a seasoned movie-goer and history enthusiast who has witnessed the rise and fall of many political figures on both sides of the Atlantic, I must say that “The Apprentice” seems to be an intriguing and potentially groundbreaking biopic. The fact that it premiered at Cannes and Telluride film festivals, garnering both crowds and standing ovations, is a promising sign.

In the initial sneak peek for “The Apprentice,” a biographical film directed by Ali Abbasi, Sebastian Stan portrays a younger Donald Trump in an interview setting, and this movie is set to hit theaters on October 11th.

In the brief video segment, Jeremy Strong portrays Roy Cohn guiding Donald Trump during a phone interview with a journalist. “I’m aiming to purchase the Commodore, and I’ve got plans to make it the best and most outstanding structure in the city, perhaps even the country – maybe the world… It will be the best building in the world,” Trump says in a controlled tone that doesn’t mimic a caricature of himself. In contrast, Strong adopts Cohn’s distinctive New York accent.

“The film titled ‘The Apprentice’ made its debut at Cannes Film Festival on May 20th, but faced difficulties finding a distributor due to its provocative content. With many big Hollywood studios hesitant to handle the movie, it eventually found a home with Briarcliff Entertainment. The film reportedly left attendees of Cannes stunned by a scene where Trump is depicted raping his wife Ivana, as played by Maria Bakalova.”

The Trump team warned they might sue about the film, claiming in a press release that it’s “a heap of fabricated nonsense” that exaggerates falsehoods that have already been proven wrong.

According to writer Gabe Sherman, “The Apprentice” is referred to as an exploration of the darker aspects of the United States’ political structure, with Martin Donovan portraying Fred Trump Sr.

1970s America is where this movie unfolds, focusing on the dynamic between Trump and Cohn, who was a key figure as Senator Joseph McCarthy’s legal advisor during the Army-McCarthy investigations. Cohn gained prominence as a prosecutor for the U.S. Department of Justice during the Julius and Ethel Rosenberg espionage trial, ultimately resulting in their execution in 1953.
