Renowned filmmaker Ali Abbasi is facing the consequences after a well-known actor accused him of inappropriate touching, causing him to lose influential contacts in the United States.
It’s been verified by EbMaster that the director of “The Apprentice” is no longer represented by CAA and Management 360, following incidents that occurred post-Golden Globes this year. According to Deadline’s report from last Friday, Abbasi was let go due to accusations of inappropriately touching an anonymous actor at what was marketed as CAA’s Golden Globes afterparty.
Reports to EbMaster indicate that an incident took place at the prestigious Chateau Marmont hotel in Los Angeles, which was not part of an official CAA event. The individual accused in this case is also represented by CAA, according to the report. A spokesperson for Abbasi declined to provide additional comments regarding the situation. Contrary to what was reported, law firm Granderson des Rochers has not dropped Abbasi; he never even hired their services initially.
According to sources, an occurrence happened at the luxurious Chateau Marmont hotel in Los Angeles that wasn’t related to any CAA function. The person implicated in this matter is also represented by CAA as stated in the report. A representative for Abbasi chose not to comment further on the issue. However, it was clarified that Granderson des Rochers did not dismiss Abbasi; he had never engaged their services before.
This year, Abbasi’s film “The Apprentice,” which explores Donald Trump’s journey to power in the ’80s and his enigmatic apprenticeship under lawyer Roy Cohn, has been unexpected contenders in the awards season. The movie gained recognition after a successful debut at Cannes, but mainstream distributors showed reluctance due to Trump’s ongoing term as president. Sebastian Stan, who portrays Trump, and Jeremy Strong, playing Cohn, have received multiple accolades for their performances, with both actors earning Oscar nominations.
