‘Thanksgiving’ Director Eli Roth Teases Addison Rae Sequel Return: ‘We Kept Her Alive for a Reason’

As a seasoned film enthusiast with a soft spot for horror movies and a penchant for Thanksgiving traditions, I must admit my excitement over the news that Addison Rae might reprise her role in Eli Roth’s “Thanksgiving” sequel is palpable. The original movie was a delightful blend of holiday cheer and chilling suspense, and its success has left me eagerly anticipating the next installment.

It sure sounds like Addison Rae will be joining Eli Roth at the “Thanksgiving” table again.

Not long after the debut of the horror film “Thanksgiving” in November, it became known that a follow-up was being planned.

As a passionate movie critic, I eagerly await the upcoming script for the sequel, penned by the talented duo of director Roth and co-writer Jeff Rendell. These creative minds are ready to submit their work to the studio, following their successful direction of the first two films in the series.

When I inquired about whether Rae was coming back, given that she’s one of the rare characters who survived until the end of the initial film, Roth gave a smile.

“On Tuesday at the launch of his latest video game film, ‘Borderlands’, he expressed, ‘I’m a big fan of Addison Rae.’ He continued, ‘It seems incomplete to have a ‘Thanksgiving’ themed movie without Addison Rae.’ “

Even so, sources tell me that Rae’s deal has not been officially signed yet.

The first film revolved around a serial killer who dresses like a 17th pilgrim and terrorizes residents of Plymouth, Massachusetts during the holiday season. It was inspired by a fake movie-trailer Roth directed for 2007’s “Grindhouse.”

The movie, earning $46 million globally while having a production cost of $15 million, featured actors like Patrick Dempsey, Milo Manheim, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Nell Verlaque, Rick Hoffman, and Gina Gershon.

Apart from the character portrayed by Rae as Gabby, there were also other survivors of the horrific massacre – Gabriel Davenport (known as Scuba), Milo Manheim as Ryan, Jalen Thomas Brooks playing Bobby, and Nell Verlaque as Jessica.

Roth affirmed that the upcoming film, too, is set against the backdrop of Thanksgiving. When inquired about potential expansions of the series to other holiday settings, Roth responded, “First things first, let’s complete the sequel.”

“Thanksgiving 2” is set to open in 2025.

“Here’s some exciting news! John Carver is reportedly set to commit another atrocity, according to a post by Roth on Instagram on November 30. A huge thanks to everyone who backed ORIGINAL HORROR in cinemas! Catch it while you can on the big screen as it’s still playing in theaters. A sequel is scheduled for release in 2025. The team is dedicating a whole year to perfecting the script and work begins today!”
