As a hardcore Attack on Titan fan with countless hours spent analyzing every intricate detail of the series, I must admit my excitement is through the roof upon hearing about this upcoming movie, Attack on Titan The Movie: The Last Attack. Despite it being a retelling of the story, the prospect of witnessing an improved version and a new post-credits scene has me eagerly anticipating its release.
The latest film adaptation of “Attack on Titan” has premiered in Japanese cinemas. But don’t anticipate much novelty, as it will retell the tale from its conclusion, merging the last two special episodes that wrap up the entire storyline. Essentially, this movie serves as a heartfelt goodbye to the widely beloved series.
Even though Attack on Titan The Movie: The Last Attack is based on a story that has been adapted before, there are still fresh elements to look forward to. Alongside potential enhancements and an improved version, fans can expect a post-credits scene in the movie, as confirmed by Yuki Kaji, Eren’s voice actor. He hinted at a unique atmosphere and a reunion with the voice actors of Mikasa and Armin. Furthermore, it will be a cinematic adaptation of something not previously shown in the anime but was presented through another medium.
Now, we’ve figured out what it entails. On the authentic AoT platform on X, they shared a frame from the post-credit sequence of Attack on Titan The Movie: The Last Attack. In this frame, Eren, Mikasa, and Armin are found in a cinema, but their expressions appear drastically altered.
The artwork alone suggests that we’re venturing into a universe depicted in “School Caste Invasions,” which presents an alternate world where titans are non-existent, and instead, the characters from the manga go to a typical school. This spin-off series is found in volumes 21 through 34 of the manga, and the post-credits scene is loosely based on a chapter from volume 34.
Heads up, there might be spoilers! In this scene, Eren, Mikasa, and Armin are seen attending the premiere of the movie Attack on Titan: The Final Battle. Throughout the film, they share their thoughts and opinions. Eren appears to be the most thrilled about experiencing the movie with his companions. He expresses a desire that if a follow-up is produced, they’ll have another chance to go to the cinema together again. This scene might not be revolutionary for the series, but it’s a touching moment that could bring tears to many fans who longed for a joyful resolution for these characters after so many years invested in their journey with Attack on Titan.
