Thai Star Sukollawat Kanarot Boards Sci-Fi Horror ‘There’s Something Wrong With the TV’ (EXCLUSIVE)

In Bangkok, Night Edge Pictures is increasing the production of their Thai horror-sci-fi film titled “There’s Something Wrong With the TV.” The prominent Thai actor Sukollawat Kanarot, known from movies like “Once Upon a Star” and “Thirteen Lives,” has been confirmed to play the leading role.

The movie is being presented to global distributors at this year’s Hong Kong FilMart, where a sneak peek will be shown for the first time. As of now, it’s still in the pre-production phase and set to hit the screens in Q1 2026. Directed by three filmmakers – Lertsiri Boonmee, Vutichai Wongnophadol (known as SLR) and Sathanapong Limwongthong (famous for “Chef’s Table”) – this supernatural thriller revolves around a teenager named Kla and his friend. They stumble upon an enigmatic antique television that’s hidden under the stairs in their home. When they switch it on, they see four children who appear to be trapped inside and are being held captive by malevolent forces. To save these kids, Kla enlists his father Krit (Kanarot) for help. However, he remains unaware of the dark secrets that lie within this peculiar television set.

Hans Audric Estialbo, CEO of Night Edge Pictures and the movie’s producer, expressed great enthusiasm about creating ‘There’s Something Wrong With the TV’, one of the highly lucrative genres being horror or sci-fi, in collaboration with international partners.

In Thailand, Night Edge Pictures, known for distributing movies such as “Talk to Me,” “Late Night With the Devil,” and the upcoming “Terrifier 3,” is collaborating on a project with a group that includes MarkEd Creativity, Nob Productions, Innova, Phoenix Films, 9119, and Fat Cat Studios. This consortium has previously worked on hit series like “The 100” and “Inhuman Kiss 2.”

This year, “Death Dial” and “Night Shift,” two additional productions by the company that premiered at AFM and Cannes market last year, have been acquired for distribution in various regions and are slated to hit the screens later in 2022.
