James Cameron’s film The Terminator, along with its sequel Judgement Day, are widely regarded as outstanding science fiction movies. They initiated a full-fledged franchise, the latest addition being Dark Fate, which is currently available for streaming with a Paramount+ subscription. In this movie, Linda Hamilton reprises her role as Sarah Connor; however, the esteemed actress has been candid about the “underdeveloped” nature of the blockbuster, also expressing an interesting perspective on her famous character.
Speaking about the Terminator series, it’s worth noting that Terminator: Dark Fate doesn’t hold the number one spot. Initially envisioned as the start of a fresh trilogy, this didn’t materialize as intended. In a recent conversation with ComicBook, she expressed her personal dissatisfaction regarding the 2019 film, stating:
(Note that the “she” refers to the actress or person being interviewed about Terminator: Dark Fate.)
In the final episode, there were some incredibly poignant scenes that deserved a little more focus. It felt somewhat rushed, and I believe Tim felt that the structure wasn’t quite right… I merely wished it moved at a slightly slower pace, offering viewers a bit more insight into the human side of things.
As a cinephile, I must say that advice hits home. The return of original actors and exhilarating action sequences in “Dark World” are certainly noteworthy, but if the story lacks emotional depth, it falls flat. Just like Hamilton pointed out, infusing more human qualities into Sarah’s character would have enriched the 128-minute journey.

Although Hamilton may still be pondering her opinion about the sequel, TopMob’s review of “Terminator: Dark World” commended it as a genuinely good film. Additionally, Arnold Schwarzenegger asserted that “Salvation” is the least impressive among the Terminator films.
Sarah Connor’s evolution in the movie “T2” is a renowned and cherished aspect of cinematic history, largely due to Linda Hamilton’s compelling portrayal. However, Sarah herself offers a unique viewpoint on this admiration, stating that she is anything but aspirational. In her own words:
It’s intriguing to me how many seem drawn to emulate Sarah Connor. I can understand why some might admire the tough image I portrayed in the sequel, but let me clarify, Sarah Connor is a deeply troubled character. She’s grappling with so much uncertainty and turmoil, living in a state of constant struggle. So while it may seem appealing on the surface, I would advise against wanting to be like Sarah Connor. She’s not just a strong woman; she’s a woman battling in the depths of hell.
Hamilton has a deep grasp of this character, and her viewpoint on Sarah Connor is particularly intriguing. It seems like she believes the heroine is essentially enduring a living hell. Given the harrowing ordeals Sarah has faced, coupled with John’s demise in the opening scene of Dark World, it’s challenging to challenge her reasoning.
It would be intriguing to find out whether or not the Terminator franchise will grace our movie screens again in the future. As for Linda Hamilton’s character Sarah Connor, it appears her role may have come to an end. At present, there are no confirmed plans for a 2025 theater release or beyond. However, titles like Dark World and others can be streamed on Paramount+.
