Telegram’s CEO plans to split $14 billion between over 100 of his children

Pavel Durov, creator and leader of messaging service Telegram, disclosed a preference for his numerous offspring not to quarrel over his wealth upon his departure. Therefore, he plans to divide the fortune exceeding $14 billion among all his children, who number more than 100 in total.

Durov is a father to six children born through three marriages, but he’s also served as a sperm donor for at least 100 other children. He regards all of these kids equally and intends to divide his inheritance fairly among them when the time comes.

Despite the fact that they won’t receive their inheritance anytime quickly, it’s inevitable in the future. Even though having 106+ children makes for an enormous family, the $14 billion is so colossal that each individual will end up with a staggering amount of wealth.

Telegram’s CEO leaves behind generational wealth for dozens

Durov shared his strategy for distributing wealth across his extended family during a conversation with Le Point, outlining the details.

The tech CEO stated that he’s choosing to delay his children’s access to his wealth for the next thirty years, beginning today. He wants them to experience life as ordinary people, develop their own abilities, build self-trust, and create things independently, rather than relying on a bank account.

It’s important for me to clarify that I treat all of my children equally, regardless of whether they were born naturally or through my sperm donations. To me, they are all my children and will all hold the same rights. I hope this unity continues even beyond my lifetime.

Additionally, he asserts that he plans to make his genetic code publicly accessible, allowing for children to be born using his genes at any point in time.

I intend to make my genetic code public, allowing my biological offspring to locate each other more conveniently. While there are potential dangers involved, I stand behind my decision to donate. The scarcity of healthy sperm is a pressing global concern, and I am proud that I contributed towards addressing this issue.

In other words, although his children won’t immediately benefit, some individuals might receive multimillion-dollar payouts at a later time.

Despite being a billionaire, he’s currently under scrutiny due to accusations of not adequately moderating his app. The French government alleges that he deliberately permits criminal activities to be orchestrated through its messaging service.
