As a long-time fan of the Tekken series, I couldn’t contain my excitement when Heihachi Mishima was announced as the next DLC character for Tekken 8! His arrival marks a significant milestone in the game’s history, as it’s the first time that a new chapter will be added to the story mode. The ongoing feud between the Mishima and Kazama families is one of the most intriguing aspects of the Tekken universe, and I’m eager to see how this new story content delves deeper into their complicated relationship.
Bandi Namco has unveiled Heihachi Mishima as the upcoming downloadable character for Tekken 8, marking a first in the game’s history with the inclusion of a new narrative chapter. This fresh storyline expansion will explore the longstanding conflict between the Mishima and Kazama clans in greater depth.
During Evo 2024, an exciting announcement was made where Tekken 8 took center stage, drawing in competitors seeking intense battles and spectators eager to witness top-tier combatants clash in the renowned fighting game. Heihachi, a beloved character and frequent antagonist in the Tekken franchise, is the latest addition to this anticipated event. Preceding him were Eddy Gordo, a downloadable character currently accessible, and Lidia Sobieska, set for release to the public starting July 25. The enigmatic Heihachi is predicted to join the fray in Fall 2024.
The upcoming addition to “The Dark Awakens” narrative, titled “Story Expansion,” will reportedly be given out for free. However, the release date, as of now, remains undetermined by publisher Bandai Namco.
Another significant Tekken announcement is a partnership with Nike. This collaboration introduces in-game clothing and the Kazuya Mishima Nike Air Foamposite One sneakers in real life. At Evo 2024’s Tekken finals, a trailer was unveiled, displaying various game characters wearing Nike shoes and stages boasting Nike branding.
As a long-time fan of both Bandai Namco’s iconic Tekken series and Nike’s innovative sneaker collaborations, I was beyond excited to hear about their upcoming partnership. And just when I thought things couldn’t get any better, word got out that attendees at Evo 2021 would have the exclusive opportunity to purchase a surprise collaboration through the SNKRS app!
I was thrilled to be part of the record-breaking Evo 2024 community in Las Vegas! This year, we surpassed all previous milestones, with an incredible 10,224 players representing 63 countries participating in at least one of our eight major tournaments. The excitement didn’t stop there – Tekken 8, Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat 1, Guilty Gear Strive, and King of Fighters XV drew massive crowds, while Street Fighter III: Third Strike served as a nostalgic nod to the past. The energy was electric, and I couldn’t have asked for a more unforgettable esports experience!
