Filmed on-site in Essex and London, the movie “Finding My Voice” tells the story of a young girl who encounters heartbreaking circumstances when she’s taken away from her family following the demise of her baby brother due to their mother’s alcoholism. The plot unfolds as she struggles through life in an institution that tries to capitalize on her musical abilities, eventually rediscovering her aspirations for fame by means of perseverance and encouragement from those close to her.

The movie showcases unique compositions by Nick Southwood, a musician who has contributed to the soundtrack of “Begin Again,” directed by John Carney and titled “Lost Stars.

Previously known for directing the acclaimed series “Grey Matter” featuring Elizabeth Berrington and Stephanie Beacham, Burfitt-Dons has now shifted focus towards a more youthful audience with her recent work.

Burfitt-Dons stated that the music isn’t simply what it’s about; rather, it mirrors young individuals navigating tough situations in life. Melanie’s rise to fame is not just difficult but also, surprisingly, involves a troubling backdrop.

Alan Byron from Screenbound expressed his excitement about representing the heartwarming, character-building drama, ‘Finding My Voice.’ With its gifted cast and promising young director, this production aligns well with the growing demand for engaging, immersive content that resonates with teenagers. The authenticity of this story is spot on, and I have no doubt it will garner festival awards and strike a chord with younger viewers.
