As a seasoned cinema enthusiast with a soft spot for animated films and a keen interest in British productions, I must say I am quite intrigued by the upcoming BBC adaptation of “Tiddler.” The fact that it is the 12th Donaldson and Scheffler animated special on the BBC speaks volumes about their enduring popularity. With a stellar cast led by Hannah Waddingham and featuring Lolly Adefope, Jayde Adams, Rob Brydon, and some talented child actors, I am confident that this film will be another hit for the BBC.
BBC and Magic Light Pictures have unveiled a sneak peek at their upcoming Christmas animated tale, “Tiddler,” which is based on the picture book of the same name by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. The story revolves around a small fish with a vivid imagination who finds himself lost in the vast ocean, only to be rescued through his captivating storytelling.
Hannah Waddingham serves as the narrative voice, expressing: “The stories and movies by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler have undeniably formed a crucial foundation in my daughter’s and my shared existence. These works represent the most enchanting blend of animation and voice acting, expertly brought to life.
In this production, Lolly Adefope, Jayde Adams, Rob Brydon, along with young actors Reuben Kirby and Theo Fraser, lend their voices. The team behind the camera includes Andy Martin and Alex Bain as directors, Michael Bohnenstingl as writer, and producers Barney Goodland and Martin Pope. The film was purchased by Charlotte Moore and Nawfal Faizullah for broadcast on the BBC.
The title “Tiddler” signifies the 12th animated special from Donaldson and Scheffler, which aired on the BBC. Previously, “Tabby McTat” attracted approximately 8.6 million viewers last year.

The BBC has tasked Change Associates, an independent organization, with examining their workplace environment, specifically focusing on power relationships and alignment with corporate principles. Grahame Russell, the executive chair of Change Associates, will head this review. The purpose of this examination is to evaluate advancements since the 2013 Respect at Work Review, suggest effective measures to strengthen the work culture, and promote understanding of BBC’s core values. This review intends to enhance the handling of misconduct, increase transparency in complaint procedures, and ultimately, create a more open and trustworthy workplace environment. A concluding report with practical suggestions is anticipated by spring 2025.

Film director Rohit Shetty is planning to bring back his 2011 blockbuster “Singham,” starring Ajay Devgn, to cinemas all over India on October 18th. This decision precedes the upcoming Diwali holiday (November 1st) release of “Singham Again,” the new addition to Shetty’s cop franchise series. The re-release is intended to fuel excitement among fans and remind viewers about the roots of this popular series before the latest episode hits the screens.
