‘Ted Lasso’ Searching for New Actor to Play Jason Sudeikis’ Son

Apple TV Plus has announced that “Ted Lasso” will be returning for its fourth season, and they are currently casting for a fresh, young talent to portray Henry, the soccer-enthusiastic son of the main character and AFC Richmond’s coach.

Warner Bros. Television did not respond to EbMaster‘s request for comment.

As a die-hard fan, I’ve always admired Gus Turner, who portrayed the on-screen son of the legendary soccer coach, Ted Lasso (masterfully played by Jason Sudeikis). For the first three seasons, Henry, my character, was mostly seen during video calls with his dad, off coaching football in a far-off land while he stayed back in Kansas with mom, Michelle (brilliantly acted by Andrea Anders). However, Henry managed to jet off to London on several occasions to catch up with dear old Dad. The first time was with Michelle, and another time was after our parents decided to part ways. But the most memorable moment for me was when I welcomed Ted back home in Kansas City at the end of Season 3.

To date, only one cast member, Sudeikis, is officially set to reprise his role as Ted Lasso in Season 4. Actors Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift have had their options renewed for other series, but it remains uncertain if they will join him in the upcoming season.

Jack Burditt, known for shows like “Modern Family” and “30 Rock,” has come aboard as an executive producer in the fourth season, under his multi-project agreement with Apple TV+. Additionally, Sudeikis will hold the role of executive producer, joined by Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), Toheeb Jimoh, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee, and Bill Wrubel. Goldstein will be responsible for writing and producing as an executive producer in Season 4, with Leanne Bowen.

Bill Lawrence heads up production under his own banner, Doozer Productions, joined by Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer. Sara Walker and Phoebe Walsh are responsible for writing and producing the new season, while Sasha Garron takes on a co-producing role. Julia Lindon contributes as a writer, with Dylan Marron acting as story editor. The production is done in collaboration with Warner Bros. Television, where Doozer has an ongoing deal, along with Universal Television.

Deadline was the first to report the news of the recasting.
