At the Valorant Masters Bangkok, Team Vitality clinched the initial playoffs spot by triumphing over DRX with a score of 2-1. This high-profile competition showcases leading teams from Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) as well as the Pacific region, and this was the first series to reach the third map in the event.

In this scenario, Team Vitality is set to face off against the victor of the EDG versus G2 competition, whereas DRX prepares to battle it out with the loser to keep their chances alive in the tournament.

In the opening match, Team Vitality took control, finishing with a 13-8 win on the first map, dominating throughout both halves. However, in a closely contested battle, Abyss and DRX were evenly matched; the score was tied at 6-6 by half time. The second half remained tight, resulting in an intense game, but ultimately DRX forced the series to a third map.

Initially, DRX held the upper hand, securing the first four rounds of the match. However, Vitality managed to turn things around dramatically, claiming victory with an impressive streak of eight consecutive wins. In the end, it was a closely fought battle decided by slim differences.

Despite initially falling behind, DRX managed to regain ground, coming very near to winning the match. However, they ultimately failed by a single round as Vitality clinched the game with a score of 13-11.

In this matchup, it’s the first time we’ve experienced defeat with this lineup, and I must admit, it’s not a pleasant feeling. Losing is never fun, but given that today we faced off against the top seed in EMEA Kickoff, I believe our performance was impressive. Teams like Vitality and G2 truly shine when it comes to Valorant, particularly on an international stage. We fell short by a narrow margin, so I am incredibly proud of the team’s efforts and their performance against Vitality. With some fine-tuning of our strategies, we can certainly give them a run for their money. That’s what termi, DRX’s head coach, had to say about the match.
