Tazbah Chavez will soon be taking the helm for NBC’s comedic one-camera pilot series, titled EbMaster, which is based around a Native American community center. This information comes directly from our exclusive sources.
As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that the stellar cast for our pilot includes Jana Schmieding, Bobby Wilson, Wes Studi, Rachel Dratch, Frankie Quiñones, Eddie Spears, Brian Bahe, and Sienna Tso. In the exciting month of March, our project, along with the cheerleader comedy “Stumble,” was given the green light for pilot production by NBC.
This project’s official summary describes it as a “Comedy series centered around a Native community center in Oakland, California. The staff work tirelessly to maintain operations while providing support for those less fortunate.
The pilot is crafted by screenwriters Sierra Teller Ornelas, Jackie Keliiaa, and Wilson. These three individuals also take on the role of executive producers, with Sierra Teller Ornelas being appointed as the showrunner. Morgan Sackett will also contribute as an executive producer. Universal Television, where both Teller Ornelas and Sackett have overall deals, serves as the production studio.
Directing the pilot reconnects Chavez with various cast and crew members from her past projects, “Rutherford Falls” and “Reservation Dogs,” given her significant role in both shows. She penned and directed numerous episodes of both series, served as a producer on the first, and co-executive producer on the second, earning a shared nomination for ‘Reservation Dogs’ in the category of Best Comedy Series at the 2024 Emmys. Her resume also includes work on “Resident Alien,” “Accused,” and “Sex Lives of College Girls.” Upcoming projects like “IT: Welcome to Derry” and “The Paper” are also part of her portfolio.
She is repped by 3 Arts, WME, and Hansen Jacobson.
At present, NBC’s comedy selection is quite limited, featuring just two shows: “Happy’s Place,” a multi-camera series, and “St. Denis Medical,” a mockumentary. Regrettably, both “Night Court” and “Lopez vs. Lopez” have been terminated on the broadcast network.
