Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are getting married, and everyone’s curious about the wedding entertainment. The pop star knows a lot of incredibly talented musicians, so it’s natural to wonder who will perform. She recently shared that she believes her friend Ed Sheeran will likely be the one singing at the ceremony.
On Hits Radio, Ed Sheeran mentioned people frequently request him to play at weddings. So, the radio hosts turned to Taylor Swift – who was there to talk about her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, and its release party – and asked if Sheeran might be performing at her wedding to Travis Kelce. The singer responded with a witty remark:
Oh, I mean, it would be hard to keep him from it, I think.
Honestly, what *can* you expect? He’s a natural performer. It just makes sense – you put a singer on stage with a microphone, and they’re going to sing! It’s what they *do*. I mean, it would be strange if they didn’t, right?
Acknowledging that it felt pretty predictable the “Shape of You” singer would perform at her wedding, she went on to explain the reason, adding a humorous comment:
The funny thing is, he says people constantly ask him to perform at weddings. It’s like, ‘Ed, whenever there’s a stage, you know you’ll end up singing!’ He understands what audiences want, and he’s happy to deliver.
Taylor Swift feels the same way, so she really enjoyed discussing this idea. After mentioning Ed Sheeran would probably sing at her wedding, planned or not, she explained that his desire to perform whenever there’s a stage is something she also experiences, saying:
What’s great about our friendship is that we both enjoy performing, writing, and singing. So, we often joke, ‘Oh, please don’t make me sing!’ You know how it is? You end up explaining to the band, like, ‘Let’s do ‘Shake It Off,’ it only has three chords, we’ll start here and then go…’
Although she didn’t mention a particular instance, she unexpectedly played “Shake It Off” at a Tight End University event earlier in the year. 49ers tight end George Kittle said that 1989 moment wasn’t rehearsed, and she came up with the idea to perform it herself.
Given her personality, I believe she would absolutely be up for a spontaneous performance of a song like “Thinking Out Loud” on her wedding day with Travis Kelce. As she’s mentioned, these kinds of moments are typical for them, and they genuinely love them so much.
The truth is, we’re passionate about our work. We genuinely enjoy performing on stage. It’s surprisingly easy to convince either of us to do a show, actually.
It’s likely that if Ed Sheeran performs at Taylor Swift’s wedding, we won’t get to see it. Still, it’s reasonable to expect the two singers to perform together publicly again sometime. They’ve worked together on numerous occasions – Sheeran opened for Swift in the past, they recently shared the stage on the Eras Tour, and they have a long track record of performing live as a duo.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed that comes true, and that Sheeran also performs at the wedding. That would be, in his words, “Perfect.”
