Taylor Swift Endorses Kamala Harris Following Debate

As a dedicated Swiftie with over a decade of following Taylor’s journey, I couldn’t be more thrilled about her endorsement for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. Her decision to publicly support them is not only a testament to her values but also an inspiration for millions of young voters like myself who look up to Taylor as a role model.

Taylor Swift has officially backed Kamala Harris following their debate with President Donald Trump. After the televised event on ABC, she shared a powerful message on her Instagram Story, expressing that Harris is a strong advocate for the causes she believes deserve a fierce champion. She thinks Harris is a skillful and steady leader, and believes our country can achieve more if guided by wisdom rather than turmoil.

Swift expressed, “Just like numerous others, I tuned in to tonight’s debate. It’s an excellent opportunity for those who haven’t yet, to delve into the issues being discussed and understand each candidate’s perspective on the matters that resonate most with you personally. As a voter, I always strive to gather as much information as possible about their proposed policies and visions for our nation.

She added, “I’ve learned that an AI model imitating me was recently posted on Donald Trump’s site, falsely endorsing his presidential campaign. This incident has stirred up my concerns about AI and the spread of false information. It’s made clear to me the importance of being open about my true intentions as a voter. The most effective way to counteract misinformation is by telling the truth.

Moving directly to the main point, which many fans have eagerly anticipated since July, Swift declared, “In the 2024 Presidential Election, I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. I’m choosing @kamalaharris because she stands firm for the rights and causes that I believe require a strong advocate. I believe she is a skilled, steady leader, and I am confident we can achieve so much more as a nation if we are guided by calm rather than chaos. I was truly inspired and impressed by her choice of running mate @timwalz, who has been championing LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to make decisions about her own body for many years.

She firmly decided after doing her homework and gathering information. Here’s a friendly reminder for everyone: Conduct your own investigation, and make your decision accordingly. And if you’re new to voting, don’t forget that registration is essential! I also suggest considering early voting as it can be more convenient. I’ve provided a link in my article where you can find information on how and when to register, as well as early voting dates.

“With love and hope,” she signed the message, “Taylor Swift… Childless Cat Lady.”

Alongside the post, there was a picture of Swift with one of her cats, Benjamin Button. This photo was taken during a cover shoot for Time magazine when they named Swift their Person of the Year back in December. Swift’s closing remark, “cat lady,” was a playful jab at Republican VP candidate JD Vance, who had previously made a comment criticizing cat-owning women as a significant portion of the Democratic party.

The endorsement was issued shortly following the conclusion of the debate, with Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz being given an immediate opportunity to respond due to his ongoing interview with Rachel Maddow on MSNBC at that time, during which she read out the endorsement message to him.

Walz expressed heartfelt appreciation towards Taylor Swift, acknowledging they share a common bond as cat owners. He found her message eloquent and clear, stressing that such courage is needed in America. He invited Swift’s fans, or Swifties, to visit Harris’ website for more information on how to support the campaign.

Following the debate, Harris paid a visit to a Democratic celebration event in Philadelphia where she momentarily connected with supporters. As per Politico, the tune that accompanied Harris’ departure at this gathering was Taylor Swift’s “The Man.

2020 saw Taylor Swift expressing her backing for the Joe Biden/Kamala Harris campaign. On the very same day as Harris’ debate with Mike Pence, she declared that she would have been vocalizing her approval for Harris while watching the debate on television.

Discussions about Swift’s political leanings have been a hot topic nationwide, long before Harris took the spotlight in July as the leading figure on the ticket. Historically, Swift has made significant statements during election cycles, from her endorsement in a 2018 congressional race in Tennessee to her support for the Democratic candidate in the 2020 presidential race. In previous years, she usually waited until early October to announce her strong endorsement. However, this time around, Swift broke from tradition and revealed her endorsement a month earlier than usual – a departure from her past practice of stepping up in late September or early October.

Initially, there was speculation about whether Taylor Swift would quickly react when Donald Trump claimed her endorsement after fans posted mainly fabricated pictures of “Swift supporters for Trump,” but the celebrity has waited to speak up until now.

Although the singer had remained quiet until now, many of her fans had assumed her support for Harris was coming — and, with or without Swift leading the charge, formed the group Swifties 4 Harris. A Zoom call organized by the group featured politicians like Sen. Elizabeth Warren as well as singer Carole King and raised more than $100,000 for the Harris-Walz campaign.
