Film industry veteran and triple threat, Taylor Sheridan, has made a significant impact in Hollywood with his captivating work, creating one of the most talked-about phenomena: the TV series “Yellowstone”. Sheridan’s talent extends across various platforms, having acted in hit shows like “Veronica Mars” and “Sons of Anarchy”, while also constructing an enthralling neo-Western universe that audiences can’t seem to get enough of. This universe includes stunning spin-offs, with many more in the pipeline.
Sheridan, having ventured beyond Yellowstone, has grown the franchise with hit prequels 1883 and 1923. After the controversial finale of the streaming sensation in December 2024, he’s got numerous original productions lined up for fans who aren’t quite ready to part ways with the hardy Dutton family just yet. Here’s a glimpse at every TV show and movie that Taylor Sheridan is currently involved in.

‘Mayor of Kingstown’ (Season 4)
In the fictional town of Kingstown, Michigan, Taylor Sheridan’s hard-hitting crime drama delves into the intricacies of the criminal justice system. The story revolves around the influential McLusky family, who hold sway in the economically struggling town through their dominance over the sole prosperous sector: imprisonment. Jeremy Renner portrays Mike McLusky, the head honcho grappling to keep control amidst gang conflicts, racial strife, and pervasive corruption. The series further explores the intricate power struggles and the personal hurdles encountered by individuals ensnared in the prison system’s cycle.
The Upcoming Season Is Gearing Up With New Cast Members
With each new season of Mayor of Kingstown, the tension escalated, introducing fresh conflicts and a transformation in the balance of power. The third season concluded dramatically as the McLusky family encountered unforeseen dangers within Anchor Bay Prison’s confines. Additionally, it witnessed the demise of significant characters such as the interim warden of Kingstown Prison, Captain Kareem Moore, and Milo Sunter, a formidable member of the Russian mob.
In Season 4, the McLusky family will struggle to keep their power as fresh narratives and characters enter the picture. The specifics of the plot are being kept secret, but it’s been announced that Clayton Cardenas from “Mayans M.C.” is joining the cast as Deputy Warden Torres, who serves as the new Warden’s right-hand man at Anchor Bay Prison. This news has only heightened our excitement for what’s to come.

‘6666’
As a passionate film enthusiast, I’m eagerly anticipating the upcoming series, “6666,” which delves deep into the storied past of the legendary Four Sixes Ranch – the very same Texas ranch that graced our screens during seasons four and five of “Yellowstone.” John Dutton (Kevin Costner) saw potential in young Jimmy Hurdstrom (Jefferson White), sending him to this expansive ranch to hone his cowboy skills. In a twist of fate, the series will be set on the real-life ranch, boasting a whopping 225 square miles of land. Interestingly, it was recently acquired by Sheridan for an astounding $192 million in 2022. Can’t wait to see what unfolds on this iconic piece of land!
Clues for ‘6666’ Are Likely Found in the Final Season of ‘Yellowstone’
As a fervent enthusiast, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the details about the spin-off series, 6666, since its initial announcement in 2022. Though specifics about the plot and timeline remain undisclosed, the fifth and final season of Yellowstone may have provided some clues. The character Jimmy, played by Jefferson White, along with his wife Emily (Kathryn Kelly), were spotted at the Four Sixes ranch, which could suggest that they will be the leading stars in the upcoming series. It appears that Taylor Sheridan was subtly setting up 6666 during the final season of Yellowstone, as many plotlines revolved around Texas and Rip (Cole Hauser) and his men even journeyed to the ranch to assist the Yellowstone cattle during winter, potentially hinting at a connection between the two shows.

‘1944’
1944 represents another captivating prequel series set within the beloved Yellowstone universe, delving into the lives of a fresh Dutton generation at the legendary Montana ranch. Similar to shows 1883 and 1923, it will continue expanding the rich family history and unveiling the compelling roots of the prominent dynasty. As this series unfolds during World War II, audiences can anticipate an exploration of America’s hardships during the global conflict, potentially portraying the ranch in a unique perspective, as women stepped into roles traditionally held by men while they were away serving in the war.
Details for ‘1944’ Remain Vague
For the series titled “1944,” neither Taylor Sheridan nor Paramount has publicly disclosed its plotline, as the creator is currently engaged in multiple projects. However, Tom Prince, an executive at 101 Studios (who produced Yellowstone), hinted that the show will serve as a sequel to the Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren-led “1923.” According to Prince’s statement from 2023, it is likely that most of the filming for 1944 will take place in the Bitterroot Valley due to its connection with Chief Joseph Ranch, which serves as the Dutton homestead in Yellowstone. At present, no cast or crew members have been officially confirmed for “1944.

‘The Madison’
In his upcoming neo-Western spin-off titled “The Madison“, Sheridan has gathered an impressive lineup of actors, including Michelle Pfeiffer, Patrick J. Adams, and Matthew Fox, among others, to lead the sequel. This series revolves around the McIntosh family as they adapt to their new life in Montana’s Madison River valley following their move from New York City. The show is portrayed as a moving exploration of grief and human connection and was initially slated to unfold after the events depicted in “Yellowstone“.
The Madison Explores Montana With a Different Lens
In August 2024, Pheiffer was chosen for the main character as wealthy matriarch Stacy Clyburn in the series titled “The Madison“. Besides acting, she will also serve as an executive producer. The co-CEO of Paramount Global commented that Pheiffer is ideal for anchoring the new storyline of “Madison“, a spin-off from the popular series “Yellowstone” created by Taylor Sheridan. Filming wrapped up in December 2024, but the release date has not been announced yet. Christina Alexandra Voros, who directed both “The Madison” and “Yellowstone“, mentioned that both shows have a shared connection through their depiction of landscapes, as she discussed in an interview with Variety in November 2024.
In Montana, I found myself gazing upon familiar landscapes, yet they seemed to shimmer with an entirely new perspective. It was as if I’d stumbled upon another side of a polished gemstone, revealing hitherto unseen facets. The grandeur of the terrain and our human presence within it were still echoed, but from an unexpected vantage point.

Untitled Beth Dutton & Rip Wheeler Series
Over the course of its five thrilling seasons, the unyielding love story between the passionate and spirited character Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and the resilient and steadfast Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) has been a central theme in the series. Instead of making them the main characters for a sixth season, Sheridan decided to end Yellowstone‘s journey and develop a spin-off centered around Beth and Rip. This new series may also feature other characters from the original successful show reprising their roles.
Beth & Rip Are Back For More Action
The upcoming untitled series, being a direct continuation of the timeline and characters from “Yellowstone”, is uniquely titled with the “Yellowstone” name itself. In this spin-off, Beth and Rip’s story will carry forward as they venture to a fresh cattle ranch in Dillon, Montana, following their decision to move there after purchasing the land in the final episode of the original series. The spin-off promises to maintain the narrative thread of its predecessor, with the couple facing off against old and new adversaries as they strive to develop the ranch and establish it as their permanent home.

‘Empire of the Summer Moon’
Apart from being an exceptional storyteller on television, Taylor Sheridan is also the brain behind several critically-acclaimed films such as “Hell or High Water”, “Sicario: Day of the Soldado”, and “Those Who Wish Me Dead”. This multi-talented individual, who works as a writer, director, and producer, is currently involved in bringing the S.C. Gwynne book “Empire of the Summer Moon” to life on screen. This novel offers a comprehensive and vividly detailed historical narrative about the forty-year conflict between the Comanche tribe and white settlers for dominance over the American West.
Sheridan’s Ultimate Passion Project
Sheridan holds a deep personal interest in “Empire of the Summer Moon,” as it delves into the story of the Comanches, renowned for their warrior spirit. The book also focuses on Quanah, considered their greatest chief, and his connections to cattleman and rancher Samuel Burk Burnett, who later owned the Four Sixes Ranch in Texas – a property that Sheridan currently shares ownership with.
Author S.C. Gwynne is thrilled that Sheridan has been chosen to adapt his book, as he believes there’s no one more suited for the task of portraying the challenging events and history, according to Deadline.
His knowledge of the legend and truth behind the Old West is profound and complex. It’s exciting to see him taking on this endeavor.

‘2024’
In May 2023, following the initial announcement that Kevin Costner would depart Yellowstone during its fifth (and concluding) season, it was Matthew McConaughey who emerged as a potential main character in a sequel series titled 2024. Initially slated to star in Taylor Sheridan’s original production, the project underwent changes and transformed into another upcoming drama by the creator named The Madison, leaving the fate of 2024 and McConaughey’s participation within the Yellowstone universe uncertain.
The Fate of McConaughey’s Project Remains Unknown
Back in March 2023, it was officially announced that McConaughey would be part of Sheridan’s profitable empire. However, negotiations started to slow down as McConaughey requested $2.5 million per episode for taking up the Dutton role. This high fee prevented him from accepting other jobs due to potential conflicts with the show’s production. With numerous spin-offs being developed by Sheridan, the possibility of a McConaughey-centric series remains uncertain, particularly since he didn’t appear in The Madison. No updates have been shared about McConaughey joining the expanding True Detective universe.

‘Landman’ (Season 2)
As a movie critic, I’m thrilled to share that Billy Bob Thornton reprises his gripping role as Tommy Norris, the rugged oilman, in the upcoming season of “Landman.” Following the jaw-dropping climax that left fans on the edge of their seats, wondering about the fate of our protagonist, this new installment promises to delve deeper into his struggle to come to terms with a changed reality.
In March 2025, after months of buzz and anticipation from dedicated viewers, Paramount+ finally gave the green light for another season of this nail-biting drama. To add to the excitement, Demi Moore confirmed that production would kick off in Texas in the early part of the year. So, buckle up and get ready for another rollercoaster ride with Tommy Norris!
‘Landman’ Cast Adds a Hollywood Veteran
As a film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Thornton and Moore will be joined by familiar faces like Andy Garcia, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, and Michelle Randolph. In an exciting turn of events announced in April 2025, Sam Elliot has also joined the expanding cast, though details about his role remain under wraps. Interestingly, Thornton and Elliot have worked together before, gracing our screens in Tombstone as well as 1883. For his outstanding performance, Thornton received both a Golden Globe and Satellite Award nomination. The Academy Award-winning actor is eager to continue this journey with both Sheridan and the gripping series, expressing his hope for a long-term collaboration.
I plan to stay as long as they need me and as long as I can. To put it simply, when I was 35, I didn’t feel the need to assure someone interviewing me about this. However, now, I must admit that there will eventually come a time, hopefully far in the future, where I may have to imitate Peter Boyle’s character from Everybody Loves Raymond and simply sit in a chair and enjoy cake.

‘Y: Marshals’
The most recent Yellowstone spin-off being developed by Sheridan is provisionally named Y: Marshals. In this series, Luke Grimes returns to portray Kayce Dutton, the youngest sibling. The story follows Kayce as he departs from ranch life and takes on a thrilling new role as a U.S. Marshal. His mission: to bring justice to Montana by joining an elite team of law enforcement officers dedicated to capturing dangerous criminals.
The ‘Yellowstone’ Universe Continues to Expand
To date, Grimes has been confirmed as a cast member for the series. It’s anticipated that his on-screen family members, Kelsey Asbille (Monica) and Brecken Merrill (Tate), may also join the show. Sheridan will take up an executive producer role, while Spencer Hudnut, known for his work on SEAL Team and The Blacklist: Redemption, will serve as the showrunner, writer, and executive producer. CBS’s 2025-26 season is set to introduce Y: Marshals midseason, airing at 9 p.m. EST on Sundays as part of their programming lineup.

‘F.A.S.T.’
After a hiatus from producing television shows, Sheridan is set to make a comeback on the silver screen with the forthcoming action-thriller titled F.A.S.T.. In this movie, he has chosen Brandon Sklenar, an alum from 1923, to portray the role of a struggling ex-special forces operative who is recruited to command an elite black ops squad targeting drug traffickers shielded by the CIA. The film will also serve as Ben Richardson’s directorial debut; Richardson is a prominent director and accomplished cinematographer primarily known for his work on 1923.
Sheridan Enlists ‘1923’ Breakout Star Sklenar to Lead
Originally penned by Sheridan during the mid-2010s while he was working on Hell or High Water and Sicario, F.A.S.T. was initially intended for Chris Pratt to star in as a thriller that Sheridan wanted to direct himself. However, after changes in studios and delays in production, Sklenar eventually took the lead role following his impressive performance in 1923. To date, Sklenar is the only confirmed cast member for F.A.S.T., which is slated for a grand premiere in theaters in May 2027.
