Tatyana Ali Says Rose McGowan Stood Up to Her ‘Jawbreaker’ On-Set Bully ‘In Front of Everyone’: ‘I Will Always Love Her for That’

On Saturday, Ali posted on Instagram, reflecting fondly on her role in the 1999 high school murder dramedy. She additionally recounted an instance when co-star McGowan stood up to a specific actress who was harassing him during production.

Ali posted images from ‘Jawbreaker’ (1999), recalling that he was the only cast member who was still in high school during filming. He experienced some bullying from a specific actress, but one day, she crossed the line in front of everyone. Rose McGowan stood up for him by telling her to stop it in front of everyone! I will always be grateful to her for that act of support!

McGowan responded to the post affirming that she would repeat the action. She also mentioned that Ali possesses a timeless blend of “grace, intelligence, and attractiveness.

Titled “Jawbreaker,” this movie, helmed by Darren Stein, features McGowan, Ali, Rebecca Gayheart, Julie Benz, Charlotte Ayanna, and Chad Christ in its stellar cast. The plot revolves around three high school girls who unwittingly kill their closest friend during a birthday prank that goes awry. They are later coerced by the socially awkward Fern, who exploits their crime to boost her own popularity.

Released Feb. 19, 1999, the film went on to gross $3.1 million at the domestic box office.

Ali is also known for his roles in “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” a spinoff show titled “Bel-Air,” “Glory Road” and “Abbott Elementary.

McGowan has also worked on movies such as “The Doom Generation,” “Scream,” “Charmed,” “The Black Dahlia,” “Death Proof,” and “Grindhouse.
