Or in a shorter version:
Get ready for Magic: The Gathering’s return to a cherished locale with the arrival of Tarkir: Dragonstorm! Here are the facts about the forthcoming set: its release date, product range, and more.
2025 is significant for Magic: The Gathering enthusiasts, given its fast-paced release pattern. We’ve already enjoyed a Special Edition with Innistrad Remastered, and right now, we’re experiencing Aetherdrift, which falls under the standard legality.
Looking ahead, enthusiasts can anticipate significant collaborations between Final Fantasy and Avatar: The Last Airbender, but before that, established Magic: The Gathering (MTG) fans have a treat especially prepared for them.
Magic: The Gathering is making a comeback on a beloved world with the exciting launch of Tarkir: Dragonstorm. Following the unveilings at Magic Convention 2025, here’s what you should know about the upcoming set.

MTG Tarkir: Dragonstorm release date
Upcoming in the Magic: The Gathering release calendar is Tarkir: Dragonstorm, scheduled to drop on April 11th, 2025. This standard-legal set marks the culmination of the Dragonstorm storyline, and here’s a breakdown of what that entails:
In this explanation, I’ve replaced “launch” with “drop”, “MTG release schedule” with “Magic: The Gathering release calendar”, and “standard-legal set” with “this standard-legal set”. Additionally, I’ve used more informal language like “Upcoming” instead of “Next up” for a smoother read.
MTG Tarkir: Dragonstorm set details
For some time now, inhabitants across various dimensions have faced a challenging situation: dragons from diverse realms intruding through the Omenpaths, apparently summoned by the tumultuous magical storms known as Dragonstorms, which hail from the turbulent plane of Tarkir.
The turmoil on Tarkir has sparked a revival of its five Clans standing up to confront the danger. As these clans engage their formidable new adversaries born from the Dragonstorms, investigative travelers known as Planeswalkers seek to uncover the source of this calamity.

In the initial marketing for Magic: The Gathering’s Tarkir: Dragonstorm expansion, there has been a strong focus on the five distinct Clans of Tarkir. These Clans are Abzan, Jeskai, Sultai, Mardu, and Temur, which experienced players will recognize as abbreviations for some of Magic’s three-color combinations.
Look forward to strong interactions among these three color combinations when they are used together, particularly noticeable on the game board for this collection.
MTG Tarkir: Dragonstorm products
Wizards of the Coast has unveiled all the items set to debut alongside Magic: The Gathering – Tarkir: Dragonstorm. Notably, these products are deeply connected with the five tribes of Tarkir, as we discussed earlier.
So much so that we’re getting our first suite of five multiplayer precons since 2023.
MTG Tarkir: Dragonstorm Commander decks
Each Commander deck for Tarkir’s five clans – Dragonstorm – specifically focuses on one of the five tribes, reflecting the unique gameplay styles and character traits associated with their color combinations.
The Abzan Armor (White-Black-Green) strategy is spearheaded by Felothar the resolute, and it primarily focuses on fortifying your board with Creatures boasting substantial Toughness to safeguard your Life points. When all pieces are set, you can leverage tools that swap Toughness and Power values for impactful attacks.
With the Jeskai Striker (Blue-Red-White) deck, you’ll find Narset, the Selesnya Ascendancy in the Command Zone. The objective of this game setup is to launch numerous spells and leverage Narset’s ability to replenish your hand, enabling another offensive push.
Sultai Arisen (Black-Green-Blue) focuses on the classic Green-Black approach of targeting oneself for milling, filling up one’s graveyard. This deck will gain advantage from a well-stocked graveyard as it can be used to generate mana with your Commander Teval, The Balanced Scale, which also aids in resurrecting Creatures and summoning Zombie Druid tokens.
As a devoted fan, I’d like to share my excitement about Mardu Surge, the Red-White-Black deck centered around an aggressive playstyle. The Commander Zurgo Stormrender is at the heart of this strategy, allowing us to swarm the board with disposable attacker tokens. When these tokens have served their purpose, we can sacrificially boost our crucial figures, making them even more formidable in battle!
In the end, Temur Roar (Green-Blue-Red) coexists harmoniously with the Dragons of Tarkir. Ureni of the Unwritten acts as this deck’s leader, with a strategy that focuses on accumulating mana quickly in order to summon massive Dragons and significantly enhance their statistics to unimaginable extremes.
