If customers who had pre-ordered the Switch 2 from Target didn’t get their consoles in a timely manner, Target will provide them with a complimentary $50 Nintendo eCard as compensation.
In April 2025, Nintendo officially unveiled the Switch 2, and they made it available to the public a mere two months later in June. Following a short wait, pre-orders became accessible starting April 24, with most retailers promising delivery either on or shortly after its release date.
Despite our best efforts, not all events unfolded as intended; some Target customers ended up receiving their new Nintendo consoles later than June 5.
In three weeks’ time, starting from June 26th, Target started delivering $50 Nintendo gift cards to those who had been impacted by the delayed shipments.
Target sends some Switch 2 buyers $50
The customers were emailed a gift card from Target following their pre-order of the Nintendo Switch 2, acknowledging the delay in shipping. The message reads: “Thank you for your recent pre-order of the Nintendo Switch 2. We’re grateful for your eagerness about this launch and your choice to shop with us at Target. We hope you’re enjoying your new gaming setup!”
I’m truly regretful to inform you that your anticipated delivery didn’t meet your timeline, as much as we wished it did. We apologize deeply for falling short of the experience we aimed to provide. However, in appreciation for your patience and understanding, we’re extending a token of gratitude – a complimentary $50 Nintendo eShop Gift Card.
If you’ve already pre-ordered a Nintendo Switch 2 at Target and it arrived later than expected, Target is providing a complimentary $50 digital gift card for the eShop as a form of compensation. To sweeten the deal, when you add this gift card to your cart during checkout through Target Circle, it will effectively reduce the total cost to zero dollars. You can also confirm these details on the Target Circle platform for more information.

Based on a subsequent update by Wario regarding X, it was disclosed by Target’s customer service that the gift is exclusively available to those customers who received their Nintendo Switch 2 within the June 6th to 11th projected delivery period.
On launch day, Walmart wasn’t just one of the first companies to fulfill Switch 2 pre-orders, but they went an extra mile by offering a complimentary bottle of Coke and a pack of Pringles to some customers as well.
