Beth Riesgraf, who played a role in the original Leverage series, has shared her insights on the reintroduction of Tara and its implications for Parker’s character in Leverage: Redemption. Appearing in season 3, episode 5, Jeri Ryan’s Tara engaged in a heist with Parker and Interpol agent Astrid over a shared watch. The reappearance of this character within the franchise is set to influence several characters, particularly Parker, who has a special connection with the renowned thief.
In a chat with Grant Hermanns from ScreenRant, actress Sarah Riesgraf shared insights on Tara’s reappearance. Tara, as it turns out, contributes to the familial vibe in both Sophie and Parker’s lives, albeit uniquely for each character. Riesgraf also commended her co-star Ryan for his expertise in the series, noting that Tara’s comeback injects vital energy and action into the storyline. In discussing Tara’s influence on the show, she highlighted the deep affection between the two characters, with Parker feeling a strong sisterly bond towards Tara. You can read Riesgraf’s thoughts on this matter below:
It’s truly heartwarming to witness her effortlessly step in, show incredible skill, flash that charming smile and those captivating blue eyes, leaving you feeling an overwhelming affection. As a person, I hold her in such high regard that our reunion instantly triggers a flurry of embraces, shouts, laughter, and joy. Then comes the awe-inspiring display of skill, which is like a thunderclap – ‘Boom!’ The synergy between us as partners is instantaneously restored, and she seamlessly continues without missing a beat.
She walks in, she shows off her impressive skills, then heads home. That’s Jeri for you – a complete badass, yet kind, generous, and full of fun. She’s another person who’s always ready to join us and immerse herself in the role, understands the characters’ histories perfectly, and skillfully weaves these insights into her performance. The interactions between her and Aleyse as Breanna are simply captivating due to Aleyse’s creative choices in portraying those scenes. It was truly an enjoyable experience.
What I appreciate most about our series is its ability to blend familiar characters with fresh twists, like the recent addition. It opened up an entirely new realm, igniting a flurry of creative thoughts. Whenever I consider a possible episode centered around Breanna pulling off a con, I envision a new direction, one that would be hilarious, action-packed, and full of excitement. In essence, she’s fantastic!
It seems to me that there’s a genuine bond between these two characters. Parker often refers to Tara as if she were a sister, while Tara plays a role similar to that in Parker’s life. Sophie is somewhat maternal, but Parker feels a strong sense of protection towards Sophie. On the other hand, with Tara, it feels more like the connection you share with a best friend who gets into mischief together.
There is someone whom she completely trusts, loves, and relies on, much like a sister you might find yourself in trouble with. [Laughs a little] However, it’s challenging to compare, as I can also describe the same feelings for Sophie and Parker. Yet, the emotional journey between them (Sophie and the character) has been distinctly unique, and her intense desire to shield Sophie from harm, born out of their shared experiences and losses, stands out particularly.
Perhaps Parker doesn’t fully understand Tara’s vulnerabilities because she hasn’t witnessed them on her life journey as she has with Sophie. This difference may lead to a unique dynamic between the two. It seems more like a protective bond, where Parker would scold Tara for getting into trouble but also defend her fiercely – almost like an older sister who is ready to stand up for you, even if it means confrontation. [Laughs]
What The Insight Means For Parker’s Season 3 Story Arc
Tara Is Going To Have A Big Impact On Parker’s Story
In the series Leverage: Redemption, season 3 has been particularly focused on Parker’s character. With a past marked by a troubled childhood and time spent in foster care, Parker views the group as her surrogate family. Tara, portrayed by Riesgraf, assumes a significant role within this dynamic, acting as a cool, older confidante or friend who occasionally stirs up some excitement, causes a bit of mischief, and then departs. This kind of relationship encourages Parker to lighten up and express her more playful and carefree side.
Having an actress of Ryan’s talent portraying Tara significantly enhances the show, especially since she previously had a recurring role in Leverage. Incorporating Tara back into the storyline would have seemed a natural progression. Tara exerts a substantial influence on both Parker and Sophie, and there’s a sisterly bond between them that differs from her relationship with Sophie, which is crucial for developing various aspects of Parker’s character.
Our Take On Parker & Tara’s Relationship
Tara Helps Bring Parker Out Of Herself
Parker is an unconventional and straightforward woman who values loyalty above all else, making her a great friend. However, due to her tumultuous past, she tends to keep people at arm’s length, even within her adopted family. That’s where Tara comes in – she helps Parker let down her guard and reveals her lighter, more carefree side. This dynamic is essential for Parker’s character development, and fans are eagerly awaiting more of their interactions, especially if Leverage: Redemption gets renewed for a fourth season.
