Tales Of The Shire Will Let You Hang Out With Hobbits This March

As a seasoned gamer with a hearty appetite for all things fantasy, I must say I am utterly enchanted by the announcement of Tales Of The Shire. After years of battling orcs and wraiths, it’s high time we hobbits got our moment in the limelight!

Today at a festive Hobbit Day event, Private Division and Weta Workshop unveiled the release date for their upcoming Hobbit-inspired life simulation game titled Tales Of The Shire. Previously postponed from 2024, the game is now scheduled to debut on March 25, 2025.

In a fresh perspective, Tales Of The Shire delves into the tranquil world of The Lord Of The Rings, steering clear from the intense battles commonly associated with it. Instead, it centers around The Shire and its numerous Hobbit inhabitants. As players, you will craft your unique Hobbit character, settle into one of the numerous hobbit hole homes in Bywater, and fully immerse yourself in Hobbit society.

In this game, one of the tasks for the player character (Player) will involve procuring ingredients for both breakfast and a second meal (breakfast and second breakfast), as well as activities such as fishing, gardening, and personalizing their home (decorating their hobbit home). The town of Bywater will be populated with non-player characters (NPCs) who are other hobbits. These hobbit NPCs will provide quests, trade for unique items, and offer guidance to the newcomer in town on how they can better integrate into the community.

For the first time, Weta Workshop’s video game division will launch a game titled “Tales Of The Shire.” This newly-active division was initially formed back in 2014, although it is widely recognized for its work in movie effects. Some of their recent projects include Alien: Romulus and Dune Part Two, as well as the Amazon Prime series, The Rings Of Power, which is another venture based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s works.

The occasion for this Tales Of The Shire broadcast is Hobbit Day, which is a significant part of Tolkien Week – an annual weeklong event dedicated to honoring J.R.R. Tolkien, the author of The Lord of the Rings. Every year on September 22, Hobbit Day is celebrated, a day that holds special significance for fans of Lord of the Rings as it coincides with the birthdays of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, two crucial Hobbits in the series.

On March 25, 2025, the game titled “Tales of the Shire” is set to debut simultaneously across several platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and mobile devices through Netflix Games.
