„Take your time” Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord DLC delay is met with understanding from fans

TaleWorlds Entertainment has revealed that the release date for the DLC titled “War Sails” in Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord has been moved from June 17th to an early fall season. Originally announced in March with a captivating trailer, the development team has shared this update through various social media platforms and Steam. Fortunately, the community appears to be relatively understanding about the delay. As of now, we are yet to witness any gameplay footage for this upcoming naval combat expansion.

Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord DLC delayed from June to early Fall 2025

On March 20th, during the Future Games Showcase, it was announced that the “War Sails” expansion pack for the game released in 2022, “Mount and Blade 2,” would be coming. The announcement trailer revealed a new faction called the Nords and demonstrated ship-to-ship combat involving ships colliding and archers shooting arrows. This is the initial DLC for “Mount and Blade 2.” Players are eager to find out how this naval combat system functions, given that “Mount and Blade” offers both real-time strategy gameplay mechanics and the option for players to engage directly in battles using third-person action.

In a social media post, the TaleWorlds team announced the game’s delay, stating that they needed additional time to meet the high-quality standards you deserve. This slight postponement from June to early Fall is not too long of a wait, with War Sails potentially arriving as soon as September. We hope the development team can make good use of this extra time. The post also hinted at regular updates including developer blogs, sneak peeks behind the scenes, new gameplay footage, and fresh War Sails content as they approach release.

In reaction to the updates posted on sites such as Steam and Reddit, fans have generally expressed a positive response, albeit with a shared desire for the DLC that was initially scheduled for June. However, many are content to wait for the team to produce a more refined product instead of rushing out something of lower quality earlier. One user on Steam commented, “Take as long as you need.” On Reddit, one user wrote, “I’d prefer they get it right over getting it fast,” while another added, “While I’m disappointed if it requires more time, well, there are plenty of other games to play while I wait.” A similar sentiment was echoed on Twitter, with one user replying to the post, “Take your time. My gaming backlog could use a break.

It’s never enjoyable when a game has to be postponed, but it’s wonderful to witness such a supportive community reaction. As the summer exhibition season is only getting started, there’s a high chance that we might get additional information about War Sails in the upcoming weeks. Perhaps even a sneak peek at gameplay? For now, I hope the team behind Mount & Blade 2 has great success as they continue to work on this new DLC.
