Hypersect unveiled the upcoming tactical role-playing game, titled “Eternal Horizon”, slated for launch towards the end of 2025 on both PlayStation 5 and Steam for personal computers.
The game is helmed by Ryan Juckett, who founded the studio, is an experienced lead sandbox gameplay engineer (having worked on Destiny), and features character designs by Masayoshi Nishimura, known for his work in Triangle Strategy and Octopath Traveler. The soundtrack of this game was created by Doseone, who has previously contributed to Enter the Gungeon and Gang Beasts.
An announcement trailer, description, and screenshot set can be found below, via Hypersect.
Hypersect’s Never’s End, a tactical RPG featuring strategic combat and magical abilities to manipulate elements, is set to deliver intricate battlefields that favor cleverness and problem-solving skills. These immersive environments will be accessible on PC via Steam, as well as PlayStation consoles, in the near future.
In a world teetering on the edge of oblivion, you’re reborn as an indestructible, metal-forged warrior, imbued with the power to command the elements – fire, water, wind, and earth. This ability allows you to reshape the landscape during intense tactical battles, leaving a lasting impact on a world that’s always changing. Face off against hordes of undead creatures like wights, monstrous bats, demon squid goats, and more, all spawned by an apocalyptic force called the Never. Your mission: defend the last human settlement and prevent the Never from consuming everything.
In this game, you lead a group of possessed warriors in an expansive world, pushing back the forces of the Never, as humanity attempts to rebuild their once-great empire. Develop and improve towns, temples, and various locations by setting up businesses, creating trade routes, and recruiting new allies for your cause. Tailor your team with different weapons, battle strategies, and tactical combinations to defeat enemies, earning fresh loot on each expedition into the Never that strengthens the growing economy.
Rejuvenate old temples to access elemental spells – each an adaptable weapon that remains effective even after death. Manipulate rivers to make them dry or flood a battlefield. Summon rain and fog to impede opponents, or whirl up powerful winds to toss them off cliffs. Chill enemies or ignite them. Modify terrain to gain the upper hand, or transform it into lethal molten rock. Each battlefield offers a distinct challenge, urging you to discover innovative ways to employ magic and sway the odds in your advantage.
Strengthen your freshly reclaimed temples by expanding your populace with skilled weaponsmiths, tavern owners, tanners, loggers, and various other trades. Discover a world in decay, brilliantly depicted in 3D pixel art, featuring character designs by Masayoshi Nishimura (Octopath Traveler, Triangle Strategy) and music produced by Doseone (Enter the Gungeon).
Ryan Juckett, founder of Hypersect, mentioned that the combined impact from strategy RPGs such as Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre stimulated a bigger concept. Never’s End combines turn-based tactics combat with interactive systems, allowing players to contribute to the story creation – a sensation we adored in Divinity: Original Sin 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Alongside Nishimura-san, Doseone, and you, we’re thrilled to finally reveal how captivating this long-forgotten world can be.
In late 2025, Never’s End will be released on PC via Steam and PlayStation consoles, offering a fresh take on the creative potential of strategic role-playing game battles.
