Over 700 runners participated in a 50k race that started and finished at various Taco Bell restaurants in Denver, Colorado. The race is planned to return in 2026.
Over the years, many impressive food challenges have become popular online. But the recent Taco Bell 50k challenge in Denver, Colorado, is unlike anything seen before.
The race involves running 31 miles – a 50K distance – but with a unique twist: participants must also eat while they run, thanks to the Taco Bell sponsorship.
Runners will stop at 10 Taco Bell locations during the race, and they have to eat at at least nine of them. Plus, there’s a strict rule: no throwing up allowed, or the entire run doesn’t count!
Taco Bell 50k already set for 2026
Jason Romero and Dan Zolnikov are organizing a unique ultramarathon that’s free to join. But be prepared to cover the cost of your food – both what you eat and any unexpected challenges along the way!
During the challenge, participants must visit nine Taco Bell locations. By the fourth stop, they need to have eaten at least one Chalupa Supreme or Crunchwrap Supreme. And by the eighth stop, they must have eaten at least one Burrito Supreme or Nachos Bell Grande.
Runners need to finish in under 11 hours, and over-the-counter remedies for stomach issues like Pepto-Bismol, Alka-Seltzer, and Mylanta aren’t permitted during the 50k. This means heartburn or an upset stomach could be a concern.

The 2025 run saw over 700 participants, and we upped the difficulty. Runners had to cover everything in Diablo sauce, finish with a Diablo shot, and drink a total of 2 liters of Baja Blast – all without getting sick!
It happens to fall on International Taco Day, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Achilles International Denver.
One runner explained to Rocky Mountain PBS that the first few bites from insects are usually the worst, but things get better once you relax and your heart rate slows down.
Similar events have started in other places, like Minnesota, following the example of the Colorado run. But none of these are officially sponsored by the fast food company, despite clearly taking inspiration from its ‘Live Más’ slogan.
