Taco Bell bring back fan-favorite Double Decker because of viral tweet

As a seasoned gamer and longtime Taco Bell enthusiast, I can confidently say that the return of the Double Decker Taco is a victory for us, the loyal customers. For years, we’ve been voicing our demands, tweeting about our heartbreak, and even calling out the brand as cowards – all in the name of bringing back this iconic item.

After receiving strong feedback from customers who were upset about the removal of the Double Decker Taco, Taco Bell listened attentively. Consequently, this popular dish is making a comeback on their menu, but only temporarily.

Beginning on Thursday, the 10th of October, Taco Bell is bringing back their beloved Double Decker Taco. This tasty treat had been absent from their menu since 2019 and was last served in 2023.

The Double Decker consists of a crispy taco loaded with ground beef, melted cheese, and lettuce. This is subsequently enveloped in a soft flour tortilla together with refried beans.

The Taco can also be upgraded to a supreme with toppings like sour cream, tomatoes, and more.

As a dedicated Taco Bell fan, I’m thrilled about the return of the iconic Double Decker, but it almost made a comeback last year in 2022! In a customer poll conducted by the Tex-Mex restaurant, they asked us to choose which dish we missed the most. The Double Decker was a strong contender, coming in second place, but alas, the beloved Enchirito stole the show and reclaimed its spot on the menu.

2024 saw me and many others passionately advocating for Taco Bell to revive the beloved Double Decker taco. On August 15th, I myself took to Twitter, expressing my frustration at their decision to discontinue it, dubbing them “brave” instead of the cowards they were perceived as for removing such a favorite from the menu.

“They demanded the return of the Double Decker Taco, calling Taco Bell cowardly,” was the statement. In response, Taco Bell said, “Text us twice for a Crunchwrap.

Over time, numerous other customers have also voiced their preferences, frequently expressing disappointment over the absence of the Double Decker on Twitter.

2019 saw a customer expressing their disappointment on Twitter: “They removed the Double Decker Taco?!” Another empathized, “Oh dear, that’s truly unfortunate to learn.

Great news! You can enjoy the Double Decker Taco from Taco Bell until October 2024, as it’s been extended! Even better, the fast-food giant has reduced the prices of both regular and supreme options. Originally priced at $2.99 for the regular and $3.69 for the supreme, they will now cost only $2 and $2.69 respectively.

Besides reintroducing the Double Decker, Taco Bell also revived the large Cheez-It in September 2024. The Cheez-It Tostada and Cheez-It Crunchwrap Supreme are some of the variations available for this item.
