As an ardent admirer of the dynamic and resilient world of cinema, I am thrilled to witness the ascension of Syrinthia Studer to the prestigious position of WIF Board President in 2025. With her impressive 25-year career spanning various facets of the industry, from marketing to development, and her current role as executive vice president of the WIF board, she is undoubtedly poised to lead with distinction.
In 2025, Syrinthia Studer will assume the role of WIF (Women in Film, Los Angeles) Board President, following the completion of Amy Baer’s nine-year tenure as president.
Kirsten Schaffer, CEO of WIF, highlighted Syrinthia’s outstanding track record in leadership when announcing Studer’s new position. ‘Syrinthia is a leader at the cutting edge in our field,’ said Schaffer. As Syrinthia takes on this new role, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Amy Baer for her exceptional guidance during challenging times within our industry. I am excited about collaborating with Syrinthia to foster innovation, uphold high standards, and introduce fresh ideas that will help us make strides towards equity,’ Schaffer added.
Study has been working in the industry for 25 years, moving through roles in marketing and development. Her latest position was as the Executive Vice President of International Production at Paramount Global. At present, she holds the role of Executive Vice President on the Board of the Women in Film organization.
Studer expressed gratitude for Amy’s leadership and felt privileged to step up at a time when the entertainment world is undergoing such swift and revolutionary changes. During the WIF Honors ceremony last week, Baer announced this change. The mission of WIF, which empowers and encourages women, transgender, and nonbinary individuals across all aspects of the screen industries, is more vital than ever in these transformative times. As we adapt to these new challenges, I’m excited about collaborating with Kirsten and the board to rise to the occasion.

Jon M. Chu to be Honored with the ACE Golden Eddie Filmmaker of The Year Award
The American Cinema Editors (ACE) have chosen to honor Jon M. Chu with their prestigious Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year Award. This award is presented to an individual who demonstrates exceptional skill and success in the field of filmmaking, both artistically and commercially. The 75th annual ACE Eddie Awards will be held on January 18th at UCLA’s Royce Hall.
I’m delighted to share that I’ll be part of the ceremony where Maysie Hoy and Paul Hirsch, esteemed film editors, will receive career achievement awards. In all, there are 13 categories being awarded for exceptional editing work in both television and film. The nominations for these categories will be announced on December 11th.
Other esteemed recipients of the Golden Eddie award are John Waters, Gina Prince-Bythewood, Spike Lee, Quentin Tarantino, and Guillermo del Toro. “Jon M. Chu is a visionary director whose captivating storytelling and unique visual approach have left audiences spellbound globally,” remarked ACE president Sabrina Plisco.
In her explanation, Stacey shared why she believes this moment was ideal for producing the movie. She expressed surprise as she delved deeper into interviews with top executives at significant corporations, finding their system to be more problematic than many suspect. What she discovered is a highly complex mechanism, making it difficult for us to make informed and ethical decisions. Her hope is that viewers of the film will come to understand they have the power to regain control.
