Sylvester Stallone Hails Donald Trump as the ‘Second George Washington’ Introducing President-Elect at Mar-a-Lago

As a movie buff who grew up in the 80s, I’ve always admired Sylvester Stallone for his iconic roles and indomitable spirit. However, seeing him compare Donald Trump to George Washington is a stretch that even my favorite action movies can’t pull off convincingly.

On Thursday evening at the Mar-a-Lago event, Sylvester Stallone warmly introduced Donald Trump, likening him to a second George Washington.

Before President-elect Trump’s keynote address at America First Policy Institute’s gala, which was held at his resort in Palm Beach, Florida, a handshake took place between two individuals. Notable figures who have been chosen by Trump for his administration’s cabinet, like Matt Gaetz, were also present. During the gathering, it was disclosed that North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum had been selected to be proposed as the Interior Secretary.

Stallone expressed admiration for an extraordinary figure in his speech, having drawn parallels between this person and his boxing character Rocky Balboa, as well as Jesus Christ and Trump. He further stated that no one else could have achieved what this individual accomplished, leaving him amazed.

As a film enthusiast, let me express this clearly: Allow me to emphasize, and I do so sincerely. Just as George Washington safeguarded his nation without knowing he’d reshape history, we now have another George Washington. A remarkable individual whose absence might alter our world significantly. So, heartfelt congratulations!

Back in 2016, when Donald Trump was favored for the Republican presidential nomination, I expressed my admiration for him during an interview with EbMaster. I said, “I’m a big fan of Donald Trump. He’s like a fascinating character straight out of a Dickens novel. You get me?… However, I can’t quite grasp how that translates to…” And then I laughed and added, “managing the world.

At a Mipcom panel in October following the release of “Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass,” co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh reminisced that during their interviews, Trump exhibited jealousy towards Sylvester Stallone. While Trump was hosting NBC’s “The Apprentice,” his producer Burnett was also working on “The Contender” with Stallone as the host. According to Setoodeh, Trump would frequently comment that “Stallone wasn’t as skilled at making television” and that he “struggled to memorize lines and present them to the teleprompter.

“I just think we need to let this sink in: Donald Trump has been president for four years, he’s been leader of the free world for those four years,” Setoodeh said. “What he’s still fixated on was the fact that he was a better reality star than Sylvester Stallone.”
