Sydney Sweeney Set To Star In Split Fiction Film, Helmed By Wicked Director

The movie adaptation of “Split Fiction” has recently brought on board renowned actress Sydney Sweeney from “Anyone But You.” She will be taking up a significant role in the film, with possibilities of portraying either Zoe or Mio.

According to Variety, Jon M. Chu of Wicked fame is preparing to direct Split Fiction. He will work alongside Sweeney on this venture, who will also serve as an executive producer. Chu’s production company, Electric Somewhere, will finance the adaptation of the game. The writers for Split Fiction include Rhett Reeese and Paul Wernick, known for their work on Deadpool and Wolverine. Notably, this isn’t their first attempt at a video game project as they were instrumental in developing the Twisted Metal TV series for Peacock.

The momentum behind the adaptation of the Split Fiction movie has been building rapidly. As recently as last month, news broke that developer Hazelight was partnering with Story Kitchen for a film based on the game, which debuted in March. Even creator Josef Fares initially expressed doubts about whether such an adaptation would materialize. However, with Sweeney and Chu now attached to the project, the likelihood of it happening has significantly increased.

At its debut, Split Fiction garnered outstanding praise and attracted an astonishing number of players. Interestingly enough, this cooperative game ranks as Electronic Arts’ second-most-played game on Steam, boasting over 250,000 simultaneous users during peak hours. Apex Legends takes the lead position, followed by Split Fiction and then Battlefield V in third place. To top it off, TopMob’s review of Split Fiction was exceptionally positive, awarding a rare perfect score of 10/10.

In the future, Split Fiction is set to debut as a launch title on the new Nintendo Switch 2. This upcoming console is expected to retail for $450 upon its release on June 5.
