Switch Firmware Update Out Now, Described By Expert As "Major"

As a seasoned gamer with years of Nintendo Switch under my belt, I must say that the latest firmware update has left me both intrigued and somewhat underwhelmed. The newest Nintendo Switch firmware update has arrived, and while one expert said this is a “major” update given what’s under the hood, it doesn’t necessarily provide any clues about the Switch 2.

Internet detective OatmealDome, renowned for scrutinizing Switch updates to uncover hidden modifications, stated that this update is significant as it appears that almost every system component has been upgraded. According to OatmealDome, such extensive updates are common during major ones, with the operating system being rebuilt on a newer software development kit (SDK) version.

It’s plausible that OatmealDome thinks the update might involve modifications significant to game developers. However, it doesn’t necessarily imply any information about the Switch 2.

A potential successor to the Nintendo Switch, tentatively known as the Switch 2, is currently under development. It’s expected that Nintendo will unveil this upcoming console within the next few months. However, a formal announcement has yet to be made, with the exact timing remaining uncertain at this point. On November 5, Nintendo will release its next financial report; some speculate that the Switch 2 may be unveiled around that time, but no confirmations have been made as of now.
