Switch 2’s Main Menu Isn’t That Different From The One On Nintendo Switch

A lone picture of what seems to be the primary menu for the Nintendo Switch 2 has surfaced, and it appears to be a refinement rather than a revolutionary change compared to the original Nintendo Switch’s main menu layout.

To locate this image, navigate to the “About Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Games” page on the Nintendo website. Scroll down until you reach the section titled “Purchasing an Upgrade Pack.” In this section, you’ll find an illustration that guides users to the eShop for the Switch 2. This initial glimpse at the user interface is strikingly similar to the menu that appears when you press the home button on a Nintendo Switch. The central part of the UI features a gallery of game art, presumably used to launch games such as Mario Kart World. Above this, you can see indicators for the time of day, Wi-Fi connection status, and battery charge level.

At the base of the screen, users can view which Joy-Cons are linked and a line of icons. Some of these icons share a resemblance with those on Switch 1, notably the Nintendo Switch Online, Album, Controllers, System Settings, Sleep Mode, and eShop icons. The eShop icon has been revamped to a deeper shade of orange, and potential icons for features like Virtual Game Cards, GameChat, and GameShare are displayed alongside it. There’s also an enigmatic icon symbolized by a green sheet of paper. This could be a redesign of the News icon or something else entirely.

The primary structure of the Switch 2’s main menu is largely influenced by the design of the home screen on the original Switch, suggesting that enhancements such as game folders or additional menu themes might not be immediately available. However, we’ll have to keep an eye out for more information from Nintendo to confirm this.

The new Nintendo Switch (version 2) is set to be released on June 5th. If you intend to purchase it on the first day, make sure to check out TopMob’s guide for preordering the Switch 2.
