In a response to the unveiling of the Switch 2, Microsoft’s Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has expressed his intention to back the console. He also clarified that the announcement of the new Nintendo system doesn’t cause any anxiety about their upcoming generation strategies within Microsoft.
In an interview with Variety, Spencer mentioned that Microsoft has previously backed the original Nintendo Switch by launching games such as Minecraft, Pentiment, and Grounded. Looking to the future, he expressed his desire to continue supporting the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
Nintendo has been an excellent collaborator for us. By teaming up with them, we can connect with gamers who don’t primarily use PC or Xbox platforms. This partnership allows us to expand our gaming community and ensure that those passionate about our game franchises remain engaged. It’s crucial for us to keep developing games that resonate with our audience.
Spencer mentioned, “I’m strongly convinced about the impact Nintendo has on our industry and the importance of maintaining our alliance with them. Receiving their support for our games, in my opinion, plays a crucial role in shaping our future.

Although Microsoft hasn’t officially revealed any games for the Switch 2 yet, there have been whispers about Halo and Hellblade being ported to the console. Previous statements from Phil Spencer hint at Xbox games appearing on the Switch 2. A potential candidate, considering its scope and size, could be Minecraft.
During the interview, Spencer was queried whether Nintendo’s reveal of the Switch 2 prompted Microsoft to be eager to disclose plans for the next Xbox. Spencer responded, “Not at all.
He emphasized the importance of prioritizing our communities and the gaming audience we cater to within our industry. Drawing inspiration from various creators and platform owners, he is confident in our strategic plans. As Xbox continues to adapt and grow, our goal is to become increasingly relevant to the approximately 3 billion people worldwide who play video games. Every morning, he wakes up thinking about how Xbox can better serve this global gaming community.
On June 5th, The Switch 2 will make its debut. Regarding Microsoft’s future endeavors, it’s rumored that they are set to unveil a fresh Xbox console and a portable device. As of now, there’s no news about the potential release date for the new Xbox.
