Switch 2 Reportedly Using Samsung Chips As Nintendo Tries To Meet Demand

In 2025, the Switch 2 might be among the essential gaming consoles, and to keep up with the anticipated demand, Nintendo is said to be collaborating with Samsung to boost production. Earlier, Nintendo had estimated selling 15 million Switch 2 units during their current fiscal year, but it’s rumored that Samsung could help increase this figure substantially.

If reports from Bloomberg are accurate, Samsung could potentially manufacture chips for 20 million Nintendo Switch 2 consoles by March 2026. Samsung and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. were in competition to secure the contract for producing the Switch 2’s components, but Samsung emerged as the winner. Sources suggest that Samsung will produce a customized Nvidia chip specifically designed for the Switch 2. In addition, Samsung has collaborated with Nintendo in the past on memory chips and displays and is prepared to increase production if needed. Furthermore, it appears that Samsung is also advocating for OLED panels to be utilized in any potential hardware updates for the Switch 2 in the future.

2 million preorders for the product have been exhausted at various retailers worldwide, and Nintendo has expressed regret over their inability to fulfill demand in Japan via their official store. They received an overwhelming 2.2 million requests to purchase the console, yet they cautioned consumers that a substantial portion of these applicants may not be successful in securing one through the My Nintendo Store raffle sale.

In America, pre-orders for the Switch 2 officially started on April 24th, following some weeks of ambiguity about tariffs. Despite the console’s price remaining unchanged for now ($450 for the basic version and $500 for the one including Mario Kart World), prices for first-party accessories have risen. The Switch 2 is expected to boast several hardware improvements compared to its predecessor, and there will be a variety of third-party games available on its launch day.
