Switch 2 Parental Controls Let You Block Kids From Using Video In GameChat

Nintendo has outlined the enhanced parental controls coming to the Switch 2, which will include settings regarding your child’s (aged 16 and under) interactions within the new social hub, GameChat, when communicating with others.

On Nintendo’s official site, they explain that you can control who your kids interact with online, whether to allow or restrict video communication, and have access to past GameChat conversations. The detail in this history appears quite extensive, offering insights such as the duration your child spent playing with a friend and the specific view captured by the camera during video calls.

2 GameChat, for enhanced security and child safety, necessitates a phone number for verification before engaging in online chats with users. Additionally, it includes an option to activate the system lock on Switch 2, which requires a PIN to unlock the device when it’s in sleep mode. This helps safeguard the platform from unintended access by children.

Nintendo has prepped its Switch mobile application in anticipation of the upcoming launch of Switch 2 this week. Among the new features are the capability to search for screenshots and videos from the latest model, Switch 2, within the app itself. Furthermore, users can now employ Zelda Notes specifically designed for the upgraded versions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom on Switch 2.

Switch 2 comes out this Thursday, June 5, for $450.
