The new Nintendo Switch model has just hit stores, but it appears that some classic games originally designed for the first Switch, like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, might not work flawlessly on this updated version.
Users playing cross-platform matches with both Switch and Switch 2 gamers have mentioned that when one participant employs a Mii Fighter, the game may malfunction, leading to an instant termination of the match.
According to Nintendo’s Japanese announcement, there seems to be an issue with the saving of Mii Fighter thumbnail images, and they are working on a fix that will be released soon, as per IGN’s report.
As Nintendo states, only a small number of their original games may encounter issues when played on the Switch 2 using its backwards compatibility feature. While the problem with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate isn’t particularly severe, it can be frustrating for players who encounter it, especially those who favor Mii Fighters and want to use them in the game.
The immensely successful game “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate” for the Nintendo Switch has surpassed sales of over 36 million units, making it one of their top-selling titles. At present, there’s no news from Nintendo regarding future installments in the “Smash” series, with its director, Masahiro Sakurai, currently engaged in developing “Kirby Air Riders” for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
Although Super Mario Odyssey is among the Nintendo Switch’s most successful and acclaimed titles, neither an upgraded Switch 2 version nor a complimentary Switch 2 upgrade will be made available for it.
