Switch 2 eShop Looks So Much Smoother, At Least So Far

On the newer Switch model, known as Switch 2, you won’t find the same music from eShop as on the original Switch. However, it appears that the digital storefront has been significantly enhanced for user-friendliness. A recent video demonstrating the Switch 2 eShop showcases a speedy and responsive interface, which seems significantly faster than its predecessor, offering a noticeably smoother experience (though this speed may be slightly overstated).

VGC recently gave a sneak peek at the new eShop for the Switch 2 on YouTube and showed that navigating through games on the storefront is faster compared to the initial Switch version. However, there’s still a slight delay when selecting a particular game title. Despite this minor pause, it’s an improvement over the original Switch’s eShop which might freeze and show a white screen with three dots before loading.

The arrangement of categories in the menu bar differs between the original Switch eShop and the new Switch 2 eShop. In the Switch 2’s storefront, you’ll find the main categories listed sequentially from top to bottom as Highlights, Search, Personalized Recommendations (For You), and Wish List. Conversely, the original Switch eShop displays Search/Browse at the top, with Featured being initially emphasized, followed by Recent Releases, Attractive Offers (Great Deals), and Top Sellers.

Remember, while Switch 2’s eShop functions well at its launch, it doesn’t necessarily mean it will maintain that level of performance as more games are added or as time passes. However, it appears to be a significant enhancement over the original Switch’s eShop.

Tomorrow, on June 5th, the new Switch 2 will be available. Don’t worry if you missed the pre-order; TopMob is here to help! They’ll keep you updated with all the latest restock information during the launch week.
